I'm not gifting someone Lowry for a playoff run if they aren't willing to pay for it. We'll keep him, enjoy his last days...still try and make the playoffs.

I don't see the incentive? Why would we care about Schroeder? Why would we want to pay Duncan Robinson?
Raptors need some incentive to trade him.

Years from now people will look back and laugh at the fact that the Lakers refused to trade Tucker and then watched Lowry help the Clippers beat them in the playoffs. Remember when Kuzma almost held up the trade for Anthony freaking Davis? How does that look now?
I think you actually argued against your own point. Kuzma is a positive player on a controlled contract for a contender now, entirely homegrown. He's actually underpaid right now. I trust the Lakers' player development staff. Guys like Phil Handy would work wonders with THT. If we were just reckless about including young guys, you'd be left with an underwhelming present and 0 future.
THT in Toronto or LA has a great chance to reach his potential.

So if it came down to it you would've kept Kuzma/Ingram/Ball instead of including Kuzma in the trade for Davis?
I think that goes to show how much people overrate the uncertainty of the future and underrate the established. Kuzma/Ingram/Ball would never lead the Lakers to anything. Similarly, once LeBron is gone, THT and an older Davis isn't accomplishing anything so it's senseless to waste LeBron's remainder of his prime so that he and Davis can carry an underwhelming roster to a 2nd round exit this year. Instead of making the clear upgrade to a promising LeBron/Davis/Lowry trio that would be the favorites to win the title the next couple years.
