Evan Fournier and Aaron Gordon Appreciation Thread

Post#1 » by SOUL » Thu Mar 25, 2021 6:45 pm

Decided to combine the two since both are very polarizing players. I just ask that people keep debates/nasty comments out of an appreciation thread, I don't care if you voice opinions in other threads.

Thanks AG for some fun years and tantalizing play even if it wasn't all put together. Should be fun watching him catch lobs from Jokic. Orlando will always have his back in the dunk contest robberies.

Fournier will be great for Boston and like I always said, if all he did was shoot and not try to do too much then he' is very valuable and should help Boston quite a lot.

Both were good people and did a lot for the Orlando area, could have certainly done worse.

End of an era. Sad to see them go because it feels like so much more than just a trade. Like our kids are graduating and moving out of the house to go to college or something.

AG was a bright-spot for me over these last 7 seasons. Always a class act in the media, && even if he never fully reached it, his skillset/ceiling always gave me some hope.

The dunk contests, even if just for a night, made us relevant and he was our most well-known player through the years. I wish things could have turned out differently. I'd have loved to see him play next to more quality guard play on this team, but instead, he will get to go do it on Denver. Great fit there.

Evan seems like a good person. He never fit on this team, but I wish him luck with the Celtics. Good spot for him too.

AG has maybe been the most tantalising case of what if in our rebuild (maybe after Dipo). He slowed flashes of brilliance, of being able to out it all together, but for whatever reason it never worked out. During the real doom and gloom of the rebuild, he took Orlando back to the big stage with his dunk contest showings. In seasons after seasons of losing, those were real highlights!

Evan has driven me mad, I hated buddy ball. But I have massive respect for what he gave to the Magic. He always seemed like a great guy and played his ass off here, I look forward to seeing how he goes on a team like the C's and think he will flourish on a role with less responsibility
I still believe in Magic! Welcome to the Franz & Paolo era

Evan made 3 buzzerbeaters and s*** loud of game winner ( and s** loud of f*ckeries ) but was always supportive toward young players.
Gordon never become Paul George but is one of most exiting open court dunkers in recent history.

Wish them best.

I appreciate what both have done for this team!

AG brought that bouncy energy and excitement that we desperately needed when things became stale and boring around here. Represented Orlando well in 2 different Dunk Contests. Will miss his highlight reel dunks!

Evan has had ups and downs here for sure. It's no secret he was my least favorite player 2 years ago and even at the start of last season. But he won me over again with his acceptance of a smaller role in the bubble and again letting Fultz take over at the start of this year. He was asked to do a lot of the scoring that this team lacked. He did a decent job at it too. But it's going to be great to see him in the role he's much more suited for as a 4/5th option on a team with established stars already on it.

But at the end of the day, I'll actually miss both and wish them nothing but the best for the rest of their careers.

Good players but were told to do too much and that hurt them. I think they have found teams that better fit their skill set. They seem like wonderful people, I wish them the best of luck.

Two of the greatest dunk contest performances ever with Orlando on the chest.

AG, I do believe there are brighter days ahead for you. We asked a lot of you and you always did your best to step up to larger role. For that I thank you. I hope Denver allows you to settle into a role suited to your unique skillets so you can flourish as the player you truly are.

Evan, pass the damn ball. Good riddance.

Fournier reminds me of all the optimism of the Hennigan rebuild. We traded Afflalo and get Fournier return who turned out to be a really nice piece. Unfortunately we didn't build proprerly around him and he had to try and do too much.

Wish them the best! Evan was having a career year this year, and before injury, AG was playing real well too. Wish them the best, the team's direction just not right in keeping them. I think they will both do better! Good luck!

Kinda sad about both leaving. I been following AG since his crazy hs mix tape and was excited when we drafted him. I wouldn’t call him a bust but he wasn’t the player I thought he would be. He shown flashes of being an all star but he’s just never consistent. I think he’ll do great in Denver, especially playing with a superstar in Jokic and great player in Murray.
