See you in free agency

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.
NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Sato has been playing well enough and with enough chemistry that I wouldn’t want to give us assets for a free agent.

I dont see how that works. Vucevic is going to be setting the picks in PnR - is thad going to provide spacing? He is not much of a shot blocker either (and I’m not saying Lauri is one either)

Respectfully disagree. The best Lauri ever looked was beside a true center like Robin. Thad made our bench amazing and gave it an interior playmaker. This trade gave us a legit second scorer, will improve Lauri as he’s really a perimeter 4 that attacks closeouts, and gives us a sixth man of the year. At a high cost yes. But Lauri should start.

Oh well. We know AK isn’t playing around. PG will be addressed this off-season. Sato can hold it down for the rest of this season.

It’s “clear” KC? Is it really? We have no picks and no capspace to acquire a difference maker.
Oh well. We’ll see if AK can figure something out this summer. And Sato is at least a decent fill in for now.

Will be interesting to see the post-mortem articles on what happened here. It made so much sense to get him. Even moreso after the Vuc trade.

I feel like more than anything it's that the Pelicans can't decide if they value Ball or not. On the one hand, the word is that they don't really want to pay him this summer, but on the other hand, they think he's valuable enough that they wanted to use him to dump Adams or Bledsoe? You can't be saying a guy isn't valuable to you out of one side of your mouth and then say the opposite out of the other side.

I don't have your negative view about Lauri

My guess is that NO were demanding either Lauri & Coby or Lauri/Coby + 1st round pick. We rightfully prioritized Vuc, and I'm guessing we probably tried to keep that trade to one pick so that we'd have the option to send the other to NO. When that didn't work out, attaining Ball probably becasue difficult.
Although I wanted him, a trade of Lauri+Coby or one of those plus a pick doesn't quite feel like a fair exchange.

I'd have pulled the trigger on Lauri + Coby, though I see the risk.
Throwing in a first, especially after we sent out two for Vuc, was a dealbreaker for me and I bet it's why this didn't happen.

If it really was Lauri + Coby (which I kind of doubt because they have Kira Lewis ready to go, I don’t see how Coby fits), it’s a shame the Bulls couldn’t have simply gotten a pick from the Pelicans, which they have a few extra of. Getting a Milwaukee pick back would have been so easy, and much more important to the Bulls than the pelicans.
Shame.
Shame.

Re: Lonzo Ball Thread (UPDATE: Bulls Offer Sato + 2nd Round picks)
NOP was asking the moon here. Not that they shouldn't; Griffin knows how to work the trade market. He's taking a decent gamble on getting a better S&T in free agency.
But honestly, I don't even know what the hell they're doing. Their additions around Zion suck, and they're collecting assets like there's some kind of superstar guard available on the market to pair with Zion's & Ingram's combined 60% usage. These ten young 20yos they have, they're a big collection of uncomplimentary raw talents that need to be consolidated before their RFA/QOs come up in the next year. Frankly they're gonna be left with a bunch of dust.
Bledsoe and Adams are two overpaid, locked up veterans who are very poor fits for Zion. Lonzo is a poor fit for Zion; I don't think he pumps his value from here on out, but we'll see.
Point is, NOP has tons of FRP/rookie-salary capital, but who is their target? IMO they should go all in for Shai, Fox or Beal. Or two of them, if they dangle Ingram. Hey, maybe that's the plan.
All I know is it's very telling that a straight Lauri offer fetched neither a mid/late FRP nor expiring Lonzo. Both mediocre returns IMO.

KC is being really unimaginative here. There are many ways to clear the cap space for Lonzo if the Bulls need to do so. For one thing, both Thad and Sato are easily tradeable for cap space. They also can trade Aminu and/or Brown by attaching a 2d round pick, or they could be waived/extended.
