Do I understand that it saves no dollars? If so maybe we needed to create a roster spot for a free agent.Scoot McGroot wrote:?s=20

No dollars. He was fully guaranteed the rest of the way. Just straight up didn't want him.
But yes, clears a roster spot, which could eventually go to someone else. Maybe someone big, like possibly an Otto Porter Jr. if he hits the market. Or someone smaller, like a Bjorkgren favorite in O'Shae Brissett from Ft. Wayne.

My first choice would be a 4 who gets bought out. Brissett is playing well though. We could also promote one of our 2 ways and sign Brissett that way looking ahead to next year. Don't see that though with all our second rounders who could be 2 way candidates.

I wouldn't commit to that yet (converting a 2 way to a major league deal), as you can't go back from it, and no player has yet gone from a big league deal to a 2 way while staying in the same organization (Alize went back to a 2 way, but left Indy and went to Toronto to do it).

This should’ve happened long ago.

I don't think there was any advantage in doing it sooner. I think his contract was fully guaranteed and buyout season is just beginning.Pacers Forever wrote:This should’ve happened long ago.

Forgot Rondae Hollis-Jefferson is out there. He could be a nice bench combo forward with Warren. I longer returning.
