Curious who BD pairs with Vuc in the starting line-up: Thad or Lauri.

One of the best trades we've ever made(maybe the best).

This is a W.

Please check on Aminu's shooting %'s this year. I think that makes it pretty clear if he's going to start.

I think we all were a little confused by the lack of change in the roster to start the season, but in less than a year, AK added a legitimate culture-changing coach and a guy who has a shot of going down as the best center in Chicago Bulls history.

We all underwent around 20 years of terrible management, but I don't know if it's collectively hit the board of what just happened. We added a 25 and 12 All-Star. After all those years of failed trade rumors (Gasol, Kobe, Amar'e, Melo, etc.) we finally traded for someone who pushes the needle. We finally did a trade that wasn't about future considerations or flexibility. This was simply about making us better. In less than one year, AK pulled off the type of trade that John Paxson couldn't in 17 years.

Zach and Vuc should be able to get to the playoffs, and if we play well and get some notice we're going to be a prime destination for a "third star" who is looking to land in a desirable situation. Maybe that guy is Kawhi Leonard if things with LAC go sour.

The only shame of the deadline is that we didn't convert Felicio into anything. You have to assume that we'll cut him and try and add someone like Teague to the roster.

I don't understand why so many were confused on the lack of moves. That's AK's MO. He and Evs made it clear they wanted to see how the team went and wanted to focus on development.

They've had a half season to try to piece it together and they realized they needed to make comprehensive changes to the roster.
Remember, early on they were not even sure if LaVine was going to be the player they built around so they needed time to evaluate the roster and see who was going to be a part of the future.

I guess I should have said it made us all feel uneasy rather than confused. We all knew he was going to take his time to evaluate, but I think most of us were slightly worried that we'd just end up locking up all our mediocre #7 picks to long-term deals. The Vuc trade signifies that we're trying to build a contender.

My guess is Thad goes back to the bench to balance out the 2nd team.

Not every game, of course, but there will be some eye-popping ones for sure.

That’s reasonable. He’ll have some 10 assist games every now and again. And he was already putting up eye popping points/boards in Orlando, so I expect those as well. He’s a massive upgrade. He’s just not anywhere close to Joker in terms of how he sees the court. That dude sees the court in a way that no big ever has.

It will be Lauri. The Bulls are now the Nuggets east, a bit. Thad will come in for Lauri midway through the 1st as the Bulls will ride Vucevic I'd imagine for long stretches. He's in good shape and knows how to protect himself, that's another bonus -- he's durable and handling 35 minutes in a night in Orlando.

Where he honestly is a better fit. He was getting used too much and you can tell when he is gassed.

No one is saying this puts you in contention for anything except maybe a play in spot, but it opens up a lot for the future. Draft picks? Ask Sacramento how that goes. Give me players over potential. There is no player in his prime that wants to go to a team that has potential for the future. none, they all leave those teams, they want to go to a team that can play today. If Potential was enough, AD would have stayed with the Pets after they got a Zion, he had no desire to be part of a rebuild. Become better and attract better players. Be a FO that takes care of their guys and gets them help and viola, you go from being the worst destination to one that has a bit more appeal.

It's very interesting that despite having 1 legitimate contender and 1 long-shot/dark-horse contender (eh, if we want to call 06/07 that), and a total bulging surplus of lotto FRPs, rookie salaries and expiring contracts almost every year, Pax & Gar made ZERO FRINGE all-star (let alone true star) trades in 16 years. Legends.

But they can tell their great grand-children all about those times where they just about had Pau, KG or Kobe.

Right now Tankathon has the Bulls drafting at #10 (2021 draft). I assume we climb up the standings a bit, but how high? 12th? 14th? ??

Last year #12 was Tyrese Halliburton and #14 was Aaron Nesmith.

In 2019 #12 was P.J. Washington and #14 was Romeo Langford.

There should be good players for Orlando to pick, but most likely not a star.

The other pick that the Bulls gave up (2023) is too far out for me to guess how that will turn out.

It's a good trade for the Bulls.

I still see a rocky season, as we still have a mediocre PG & SF. Celtics and Raptors will hang around, but ultimately in their best interests to tank. Hornets are going to start slipping without LaMelo. In the West, Spurs, Pelicans and Grizzlies stood pat or lost vet pieces.

Bulls are getting the 4-6 seed. I realistically see them giving ORL the 16-19th pick.

Vuc is a very good fit for how Billy wants his center to play. I'm assuming he'll see his scoring dip as he was the number 1 option at Orlando, but his assists will go up given he'll receive the ball in the high post a lot, similar to Thad. Thad should go back to the bench so we have one of these types on the floor at all times. Given we don't have a dominant playmaker and average rebounders, I can see Vuc putting up a 20/12/6 statline.

I expect Lauri's shots to stay similar, he'll have a lot of opportunities of open looks and to cut to the basket with the defense focused elsewhere.

Ideal shot spread with the starters would be:

Zach - 18
Vuc - 16
Lauri - 12
PWill - 10
Sato - 8

Minutes/Rotation. We can always cut Brown out, but interested to see how he looks.

Sato (24), Coby (24)
LaVine (36), Brown (12)
PWill (28), Temple (20)
Lauri (28), Thad (20)
Vuc (32), Theis (16)
