Hampton is a legit player if ORL doesnt screw him up. This was a slight overpay by Denver and with the first attached they should have at minimum demanded a side of Bacon retuning with the Poached Gordo

Thought we would at least get Bol Bol in return as well since we passed on him last draft...

Love Gordon to Denver. He may not be a "final piece", but he could be something very close to that on the Nuggets.

If they're going to keep playing Jokic/MPJ/Jamal (and obviously they are), they desperately need a defensive PF type athletic enough to jump out on the perimeter. They got exactly that, and he's the right age for their core, too.

I'll also be very interested to see how his offence turns out playing with a maestro like Jokic instead of slogging along in whatever Orlando usually does.

Love this deal for both but I understand if people think it’s a bit light for Orlando. I love the AG fit next to Joker, Murray and MPJ.

Orlando gets some salary, Hampton who’s a hometown kid and another lightly protected first. Seems in the ballpark of what people projected.

For ORL, I would have preferred Milsap’s expiring to Harris but you can’t always get what you want...AG will be great in DEN. I just hope he can still develop “his brand” in DEN :banghead:

What's the deal with Harris' contract? In 3 months he's going to become an expiring and it's not like Orlando could get a Star FA in the Offseason anyway. He won't hurt them at all.

I like it for Denver but their roster seems a little bit unbalanced at the moment. Harris when healthy was their best perimeter defender by far. He is no all NBA defender but on that Nuggets team he looked like a difference maker on defense. Gordon could replace Harris' production to some degree but I don't like the idea of him defending smaller guys like Dame and Mitchell full time. I expected another trade for a guard to balance out the roster.

Please no, the last thing we need is a prospect with a questionable shot that we’re hoping this staff can develop.

Love this for both teams.

Nuggets get a bit of a steal because they also move Gary Harris' 2nd year and think AG is going to fit excellently there.

Hampton and the first is fair value for Gordon. Eating Harris on top of that isn't great, but taking no bad money back in the Fournier deal makes it more tenable.

Nuggets win the trade, but Orlando gets fair value for Gordon in their fire sale.

Denver has done a good job getting useful PF’s that fit their brand, without breaking the bank at $20 mil (always important to Nuggets ownership).

Paul Milsap, Jerami Grant, and now Aaron Gordon are all nice acquisitions next to Jokic.

Great deal for Denver, good deal for Orlando.

Denver is in a position to win a title this year and Gordon is a perfect fit on paper. They give up a player in Hampton who has some flaws but also some potential to be an NBA rotation player in the future and then a future 1st.

Orlando should be content with the return they received but not overly ecstatic (Similar but slightly worse return than what Minnesota received for Robert Covington).

Now I feel crazy lol pretty sure I made that up. I think I confused his background (not the player obv) with Anfernee Simons.

He was working out with Penny & Mike Miller a lot to prep for the draft, think I just conflated the two.

wouldn't have been surprised to hear he did a year at Montverde, like the rest of the young NBA

Denver: A-/A
Orlando: A

Really just great trade. Win-Win all the way around. Voted both won.

Denver gets a dynamic athlete next to Jokic, a defender next to Porter, and a fast breaker for Murray. Fits perfect, age is perfect. I would have talentwise liked it better if Barton was outgoing versus Harris; who I think is very underrated. But the way the league is set up, your need for a defensive 2 is much more in the East than the West, and Denver does need to watch their salary next year. I have concern that pick turns out great as its after Jokic's next contract ends, and only top 5 protected, but that is the cost of getting a talent upgrade now. Great move, and the A-/A is just there versus a straight A more to highlight the risks and the loss of Harris, and to distinguish that if I had to pick a deal winner i would pick Orlando; but really I have Denver as a trade deadline winner just off this deal. Great deal.

Orlando gets exactly perfect rebuilding assets... and Harris. I would look for Harris to be flipped next offseason. No much more to say.

Remember they turned down two 1st (including a 2021 pick) from Portland.

One of the picks Por offered, would've been used on RJ Hampton (our FO was very very high on him), so they get him anyway. The 2nd Por pick, likely would've been lotto protected and if it were in 2021, Orl would have our own '21 pick, Chi '21 pick, Por '21 pick for a roster that will have 7 young player needing development. Orl gets a top 5-protected pick down the road; which, is perfectly fine because our roster is suuuuuuuper young. We now have time to develop and see what we have now, and use that later Den pick to add to a good roster or use for trade. Annnnd, never know what can happen in 4 years.

Essentially, they got a better deal than what they passed on with a quality human/player in Harris coming into our locker room to help be an example for the young'ns (ask Den fans how they feel about Garris) than an expiring Ariza that may not have set foot in Orlando.

Love this deal for both. It still hurts though for Denver that they had to give up Hampton and a future FRP for what they already had with Grant.
