So...we're going to waive Felicio, right?
Presumably we held on to him through this point because we thought we may be able to use his expiring contract in a trade. Now that's not an option, I feel like we should probably consider signing someone like Jeff Teague to the roster. Not my favorite point guard, but he's a guy who would be more dependable in the playoffs than Coby.
Is there any benefit to keeping him? Can we use his bird rights in a sign and trade or anything potentially useful? Cap experts, what's the deal here?

No, he's gonna be a paperweight. And a damn good paperweight. Gotta get something for that money.

Should be a no brainer. Get some developmental project for that roster spot.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

Might as well keep him. Mokoko probably get waived first.

Whatever incriminating photos he has of Jerry Reinsdorf are still locked away, so he's still on the roster.
He's not even a very good bench cheerleader. He's no Robert Sacre.

He’s done in the league. Send him home. He’s not even worth the daily meal and hotel expense.

IMO, Mokoka is on a 2-way.

He's good for 6 fouls on Joel Embiid in the playoff. Keep him, unless there is a clear contributor available for us in the market.

Funny to read this thing from 2017 about Felicio. I'm trying to understand why he got paid this much still.
--------------
In the late 16th Century, the famed Portuguese fortune hunters known as the Bandierantes discovered gold-- among several places--in a tiny southeastern area of Brazil. It was a glorious, pristine place, hermosa. So they called it Pouso Alegre, which means, “a nice stay.” It was where Bulls center Cristiano Felicio was born and raised.
---------------
The Bulls Thursday with the close of the NBA free agency moratorium announced that the 6-9 center resigned with the team. In accordance with team policy, terms of the contract were not announced. Published reports estimated Felicio agreed to a deal for $32 million over four years
---------------
“My desire after the first year, after the second year was to stay with the Bulls,” Felicio said. “I was a restricted free agent and they were the first ones to talk to me. They gave me a good offer. I had my head set that I wanted to stay with the Bulls, and when they offered me, I didn't blink, I didn't do anything, I told my agent I would accept. I came from a small town where nobody there is expected to go nowhere. For me to be here today it's great.”

I assume it's either money laundering or blackmail. Nobody else was gonna pay him a dime above the minimum, I don't understand who GarPax thought they were bidding against.

They convinced themselves that they found a diamond in the rough (see: Zipser, Payne, Grant).

I think they keep him around as a garbage time 3rd C.
If other teams had interest I’m guessing they’d do him the favor of waiving him. But I doubt that’s the case so they might as well keep him.

Hard to see the rationale for keeping him. I'd think there are better waiver candidates. Not that I think he's great, but I'd rather pick up Vonleh as a 3rd string center, and I believe he's available today. Would certainly search for better options after other waivers as well.

They might as well keep him?! What on earth for? You know he'll be out of the league after this, right? He's clogging up a roster slot that we could be spending on a low risk high upside option, like a D-league all-star or a clutch buy-out signing like Jeff Teague / Cory Joseph / Hassan Whiteside / Gorgui Deng.

Once Felicio, and Valentine are gone...I will feel that the GarPax cleanse is complete.
Yes, I know Coby, and Lauri. But those guys don't make one feel dirty like the other two. I'm fine w/those two sticking around given proper roles, and salaries.

That Mokoka game last year alone makes him more valuable than Felicio.

I assumed he’s been on the bench the past few seasons solely to get a good view of Benny in preparation for his future back-up mascot job with the Bulls.

Re: So...we're going to waive Felicio, right?
Felicio will be forever grateful to the Forman and Reinsdorf family.
Gar, heard the story of Felicio and decided to give him a 4 year 32 million dollar contract. It's heart warming. a feel good story and it helped a lot of Felicio;s family back in Brazil.
Unfortunately Gar was not the head of Chicago Bulls philanthropy, he was the GM of the Chicago Bulls team.
It was a terrible deal then that only got worse as it aged.
I dont care if hes waived or not, just want to move on.
