Might as well. I'm not a fan of Drummond, but theres not really any downside here.

Potentially relevant

I doubt the LA teams would get both of LaMarcus and Drummond.

All fun and games until we show up and offer him 25 mill a year.

Drummond is averaging 13.5 rebounds, 2.6 assists,1.6 steals, and 1.2 blocks per game. The biggest problem is that his FG% is .474 this year, by far the lowest of his career. I imagine that could only go up on the Hornets.

Now that we have LaMelo Ball, he could be sure to get the ball down on the blocks in good position, or feeds off the drive from LaMelo, Rozier, and Monk. On Cleveland, he has been playing with a guard named Darius Garland.

I think he would turn his career around on the Hornets.

I don't like his game and he has not been a winner in his career. I guess he would make our C spot a strength though?

The Hornets would not be "expressing interest" if they did not have a serious offer on the table. Drummond would immediately improve the team now and into the future. Hard to believe, but he is only 27.

If he wants a ring go to LA. If he wants to play with his friend Kemba go to Boston. If he wants to get a large contract next year, come to Charlotte where he will get by far the most mins.

We'll see if the LaMelo factor plays in this. Ball has heightened the profile of the franchise in the eyes of the media and fanbase. He might have done the same in the eyes of the league as well. If Drummond really is considering Charlotte and not just using the Hornets to better his leverage in the bidding, it could be to play with Ball and join something nice that's emerging in Charlotte.

It would also be an opportunity for Kupchak to add an impact player without giving up draft capital.

I hated the idea of Drummond before this season. After seeing us get obliterated in the paint night in and night out I am now on board.

Aren’t we able to offer him the most for the rest of this season? Might not be a meaningful difference but still

<talking myself into it vol 1>

this will arguably be his best supporting cast and the team is ready made for a center with his skills/size to show up 8-)

Not holding my breath on this one. Charlotte shot most of its cap space in the Wannamaker deal, so I'm not sure what exactly Kupchak can offer monetarily that would be attractive to Drummond. The Knicks are in the cat-bird seat with about $15M in cap space. Drummond's either headed to NY for the money or he's headed West for the minimum.

2nd most, we're the only team that has capspace aside from the Knicks. Of course, the Knicks have a ton, and we cut ours by more than half by acquiring Wanamaker. Still, it's more than any contender can offer.

We should get in on Aldridge too if nothing else but to hurt Miami.

We also have the room exception, yeah? Believe that's around $5M.

That's true, kinda slipped my mind. Knicks have like $13M in space IIRC, though they also have Mitchell Robinson.

Presumably the selling point here would be a bigger role than most which could lead to a bigger payday next year.
