Raptors Felt 'Very Close' To Deal With 76ers On Kyle Lowry

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri Mar 26, 2021 3:25 pm

The Toronto Raptors believed they were "very close" to a trade agreement with the Philadelphia 76ers involving Kyle Lowry, a source with knowledge of the talks told Sam Amick of The Athletic.

The 76ers and Raptors had the final hurdle of draft compensation before reaching a deal.

Danny Green, who would have been traded by the 76ers, was set to be moved to a third team. Philadelphia pivoted to a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder for George Hill.

The Miami Heat were reluctant to include Tyler Herro, while the Los Angeles Lakers felt similarly about Talen Horton-Tucker.

The difference between Philly having a chance this year and not having a chance was a couple of picks?
Curious how much it was.

Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that Masai's job???

Philly lost out imho as Hill is a shadow of what Klow would have brought.

You don't really believe the cost for Lowry was just Danny Green and draft picks, do you? This piece is missing which young players Toronto was asking for.

Philly and the Heat will both regret not ponying up for a legit championship caliber floor general when they fail to win the championship this year.

I admit I’m a raptors fan but I think the Sixers made a huge mistake. I understand thybulle is a great defender but he hasn’t shown any offensive ability. if he has no ability to score of the basketball is it really worth missing out on Kyle Lowry? And OK a few late first round picks but also so what if it’s the 30th pic.

Great non move by Philly - Toronto overvalued their 35 year old 5-10 flopper.

Danny Green fits this team better and is 6 inches taller.

Thybulle will be all NBA D soon

you couldn't be more wrong specially if u are the heat. There is no way Lowry 35 worth herro 21. Now that the trade dateline is over, u will see a more lose herro. It showed last night

dont blame Miami for not including Herro but Philly not giving a super late 1st for Lowry is silly... Lowry fits their team perfectly

Kinda reminds me of the Marc Gasol trade from when the Raps won the ring.. Trading Valanciunas +FRP for Gasol gave the Raps the last piece to their puzzle

Lowry would have certainly raised Phillys ceiling. Very bad non move by Philly imo

Such a horrible take. Kyle is WAY WAY more valuable than Danny.

Great non move by Philly. Sixers probably aren't beating the Nets either way, might as well retool in the off season with more flexibility. And you get to keep your all defense player in thybulle. Smart move by Morey

One can I agree, Valanciunas was good but doesnt have the intangability yet to fill the puzzle and toronto gave something to get it...

He's got a ring...say what you want. 6 time all-star as well.

Philly isn't going anywhere because they didn't make this trade. George Hill isn't making a big enough difference.

Sixers can very well be eliminated in the 2nd round of the playoffs...they didn't get better.
