Nice depth in case Semi is injured.

Like him much more than Gordon.
We got a guy who averages almost 20 points and shoots 40% from three for a couple of 2nd rounders and people don't like the deal...
Again, he averages almost 20 points, that is a massive upgrade for our bench...
How many points do Nesmith, Langford, Grant, Semi average combined?

Fournier will start. Smart to the bench

Fournier seems better used with the bench where scoring is desperately needed.

Re: Welcome to Boston, Evan Fournier!
He would probably be one of the best 6th men in the league but I could see the case for starting him as well. I didn't realize he was 6'-7''. If he can just NOT be a negative on the defensive end then a line-up of Kemba-EF-JB-JT-Rob is pretty potent offensively. I feel like our best bet to right the ship and starting winning games to get that 4th seed is going to be to maximize the offensive as its clear our D isn't there this season for whatever reason.

Another Fournier tidbit is that his parents are both martial arts masters.

Nah. He's a starter-level talent and we're going to want to re-sign him. Can't bring him off the bench lol

Has there been any talk about trying to sign him to an extension?

Dany said the intent was to keep him past this year on Doucher and Rich this AM.

No, I mean offer an extension now or sometime before the season ends/before he becomes UFA. Though I'm not sure about eligibility rules and when we can offer and all that.

Yeah Danny mentioned "he can't discuss future contract negotiations" right now so I assume that means he's not eligible right now. Have to wait until FA starts

obviously there must be a decent chance he stays past this season. Why else trade for him?

Sure.
But I'm talking about an extension. Even before he becomes UFA. Can we do that? Are we trying to offer him an extension? That's what I am curious about.
Danny can't talk about these things in public but maybe media has picked up on extension chatter from agents, sources inside the org, etc.

I don't know. It used to be that we had poster around here that new that kind of stuff. After the Fournier trade I asked how much do we need to lose to get under the tax again and no one knew. This place used to be somewhere you could go to learn how the NBA works. Lately it has become a bunch of people posting memes and hating on everything.

I personally still learn a lot and enjoy some of the back-and-forth. I come here not just for knowledge but a bit of fun and escape too, so the gifs and memes don't bother me at all. You just have to wade through a ton of garbage (80% of which I contribute to) before finding what you're looking for. If one doesn't have the time and patience, just put certain people on ignore or avoid the trade season threads and game threads altogether.

Looks like we could extend Fournier? I don’t know if his salary raises would be limited.. The deadline for extending players apparently doesn’t apply to expiring contracts..

You'd think that Danny now sort of has to try to sign him to an extension, otherwise this looks like a pointless move and waste of TPE, 2nd round picks, Theis, etc.
Only other justification would be if you think this move makes us a contender which is a hard sell.
