Nothing has been reported thus far that would indicate that the new acquisitions will be on the court tomorrow. I can’t imagine they’d all be cleared that quickly, but it’s possible

Why am I hearing that the Bulls have taken themselves out of free agency with the moves they made? Is it because they are over the cap this season? I still see 23 mil in "practical cap space" listed for next season.
I am translating all this to mean they would either have to renounce 2 out of 3 of Thad, Sato, and Lauri, to get under the cap and be a player in free agency.
Am I on the right track here?
I don't think it's commonly known Thad & Sato are only partially guaranteed.
But I honestly think we'll use our cap space not on another player but to renegotiate with Lavine rather than risk him becoming an unrestricted free agent. I've read we need at least $14M of cap space for this, which means we losing one of Thad or Sato and losing Markkanen.
I'm not sure if we can S&T Lauri, and then still renegotiate with Lavine after. I assume yes, but I don't know.
I guess we could do more if we pay someone to absorb Aminu and maybe dump one of the rookies like Patrick or Coby.
AK explicitly said he isn’t done fixing this team. We will get a starting PG this off-season. We are absolutely not dumping Williams. I think Coby will get another year too unless he is needed in a trade.

Not only is this the greatest trade in Bulls franchise history, but Chicago absolutely decimated everyone else who was active at the deadline. They won it by a complete landslide. AK demoralized the Magic. This was akin to the Gasol Lakers fleece trade. Just incredible stuff from Artie & Marc. I
I don’t people realize just how good the Voochmeister is. He’s the best C in the league on some nights. He is a BEAST, one of the last true Swiss Army knife unicorn Cs in basketball who can do everything well & at an absurdly high level. He’s an Ironman who is always healthy. He’s still got 4/5 years of great play left in him, and he’s somehow on an affordable deal. He & ZLV are gonna be incredible together, people have no idea
And this is just the beginning
I seriously have no idea how he battered up Orlando like that. Whoa. That was an obscene robbery. Even if WCJ becomes Horford x100, it’s one of the worst trades in recent memory. Just below the Butler trade in terms of “wow wtf were they thinking...”. I was against getting Vooci Mane because I thought it’d cost like 4 1sts or something crazy, but had no idea that AK was going to torch a team like he did. Either way, everyone making those comments in those other threads should copy & paste them here & in the Theis thread lmfao
The crazy thing is that Vooch is actually improving. His game relies on almost no athleticism, it’s all footwork & sheer skill. And he’s an *ironman*. Never gets hurt.
I saw someone compare this to the Boozer signing, and I’d disagree. Boozer was a massive question mark. He was extremely injury prone & Jazz fans were thrilled to see him go. It was heavily questioned whether or not he’d be the player he was post-injuries, at a slimmer weight, and he wasn’t that guy anymore. Vooch is a top 20 player in his prime, in 2021!!! This is the biggest Bulls news since the 2008 lottery announcement
Markkanen next, plz!
I don't think anyone cares about publicly humiliating others except for you. It's weird and toxic. We're all Bulls fans here. Ouch. He went from "Way too old & a career loser" and a "Horrible idea" to the greatest trade in Bulls history in only a matter of a few days? He also has one of the best value contracts in the league, so I wouldn't say "Way too much $$" is an accurate statement either.HouseOfLight wrote:Vucevic isn’t a player that the Bulls should look to invest in. That would be an atrocious idea. He’d be a decent fit & would perform, but it’d wind up being a redundant scenario pretty rapidly. Also, Vucevic is 30 year old 16th draft pick. WCJ & Coby White are *21 & 20 YEARS OF AGE RESPECTIVELY*. Should I repeat that....or...should someone else repeat it ad nauseum for you? What in gods name are you even talking about??

You were right about one thing: the Bulls are in good hands, just not at all in the way you implied. The ironic thing about all of that nonsense is that the Chicago Bulls fanbase is arguably the most toxic in all of sports, and it’s got nothing whatsoever to do with the likes of me. Absurdly, almost comically pessimistic; it’s hilarious, and those comments from the other night were almost like a comic writer’s parody of your typical Bulls fan LOL. Like if someone sat down & wrote a sketch about your average Bulls fan, it’d essentially be that thread from the other night. I don’t even even want to repeat some of those comments because they were so utterly cringe, but they definitely deserve to be compiled for comic relief going forward.

Yes, yes. All Bulls fans are derpy, toxic, pessimistic, cringy, idiots except you. You're a beacon of wisdom and intellect amongst a cesspool of us cretinous Bulls fans. We are blessed and humbled by your presence and we are forever grateful.

I agree, but it's probably going to be a tight race. Right now the Bulls are at #10 with the Pacers, Celtics, Heat, Hawks, Knicks and Hornets all ahead of them.
Who drops a bit as the season goes on?
Knicks, Celtics, Hornets, and possibly Miami are all going to either stagnate or plummet
Celtics fans are apparently livid with the Theis decision. It was allegedly done at the owner of the team’s behest purely for financial reasons, IE: them being cheap. Theis is a big part of making their team go. This will hurt them big time, especially their defense
Knicks were always going to fall off, too young & inexperienced
Hornets were getting overrated & lost one of their key players
Miami, ehh. That team is real bad without Butler. Oladipo isn’t a needle mover. He can still toss up some lofty scoring #s from time to time, but unfortunately injuries have absolutely ravaged his body. He can no longer play competent man defense & the explosion isn’t there anymore
Chicago automatically, after one afternoon, has one of the most lethal offensive duos on the planet. You factor in Theis, who will bolster bench defense *big time*, and don’t be surprised to see Chicago shoot up the standings.
I'm not quite as optimistic about the rest of the season as you are, but I hope you're right!
Well the main thing to factor in is just now atrocious the east is compared to the west, per usual. Which teams out of the ones mentioned have two of the best offensive players in basketball?
Post-deadline, the Bulls are clearly superior to NYC & CHA. Worst case scenario is Vooch & company have an awfully difficult time adapting to Donovan’s advanced ball movement schemes. The chances of that happening are slim to none imo.
Vooch is a guy who can drop 40 & 10 without breaking a sweat & is highly adaptable, and ZLV can match him with another 40 pts. I think Chicago might lose these next two games, but then start trending upwards immediately after that

Its impossible to trade that many firsts do to the Stepien Rule. The Stepien Rule prevents teams from trading back to back firsts. You also can not trade picks that extend past 7 years.
Four to Five 1st round picks was never a option to begin with.
The two picks that were traded (The 21 and 23), also prevent the bulls from including the 2022 and 2024 pick in another trade.
I believe the 2024 pick could be traded in the future, but not until after the previous traded 2023 pic gets cashed in.

I’d wager Chicago never tanks again. I don’t see it ever happening, not now. No reason to. The elite franchises don’t tank nor rebuild, they’re always competitive because they develop talent correctly. Plain & simple. Even in 5/7 years down the road, Arturas & co will have guys ready to contribute. That’s how the elites operate. There is no tanking nor rebuilding, ever. San Antonio, Denver, Miami, Utah, Boston, etc. The only way I see Chicago selecting in the lottery again is if they somehow acquire a lotto pick

Well, in any case, it’d have been very disappointing to see Chicago complete fork over their entire asset arsenal for one player who isn’t top 5 in the league, but they sacrificed almost nothing to get him.

Re: Woj: Vucevic/Aminu for Carter Jr/Porter/ 2 1sts
Since the Bulls traded away 2 first-round picks, it should make them better now. Given this, I love the trade. Vucevic is exactly what the Bulls need as a big. With Carter Jr., the Bulls could never play inside out. Carter never was able to work with LaVine on the P&R/P&P. Donovan tried hard to make Carter an outside threat, but it didn't take. Vucevic and LaVine should be deadly.
I've read that Vucevic is a defensive liability. True, he's not a rim-protector/shot-blocker, but he's a credible presence in the lane.
When I look at all the trades, the Bulls have moved away from players who have potential that has yet to be realized in favor of players who know what the f the NBA is about and what the f they're about. Nice job, AKME.

This is completely a nerd response (adjusts glasses with index finger) but I can’t recall the last time the Bulls had three players with a PER above 20. Probably it was in the days before PER.
