Drummond Decision Day 2 -

“This is Rick Baller reporting from just outside the home of Andre Drummond. Granted a buyout by Cleveland yesterday, it’s day 2 for suitors lining up to sign the 27 year old center. We hear the Hornets are interested, but some glamor teams may sway Andre from joining the young Buzz. In the opinion of this intrepid reporter, Mitch and MJ should air themselves into town pronto!”

In all seriousness, this is the best team Andre could fit into for his long term future. He will start, and play major minutes. Prove yourself as blending and performing and you’ll have a very nice offseason contract. Hornets have young quality talent. LaMelo and Rozier represent future superstar and borderline star respectively. Hayward is the very good former all-star vet to tie things together. Either PJ or Miles will break open as our best PF, with depth + needed for playoff runs.

Hope Mitch doesn’t half-ass this one. We won’t have realistic access to this good a 5 anytime within the next several years. Need a quality starter now and next year.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

If he'd just screen and run to the rim, he would be good. But we all know he'll want to score in the post some, which he isn't good at.

But you know who is a very good passer, and also a good 3pt shooter for a big, D Cousins. I think Cousins is going to Lakers unless they get Drummond.

we need some of this decision making from our centres

the biggest thing i hate about this clip is not the terrible layup attempt but Drummond completely ignoring the guards who moved to receive a pass. He just wanted to stare down the other centre and take him on.

that's what scares me the most. but its a one off clip, I'm sure he could be fine

Our current staff has shown incredible skill at maximizing a players talents in the current NBA landscape, I have no doubt they would figure out how to maximize Drummond's effectiveness as well.

He is a paint beast.

Technically the Toronto Wanamaker pick is 54-60 :P
I think it's top 54 protected, meaning we'd only get it if it fell in that 55-60 range. Unless it's being reported differently?

It's funny: I'd never seen any protections on 2nds other than top-55 until Mitch came here. The Celtics pick we got for Kemba was top-53 (Riller) and now this one top-54.

You add Drummond with a healthy Ball and we’re instantly the 4th if not the 3rd best team in the East. We have all of the other pieces...and we could basically have a starting lineup as our bench.

Apparently he's deciding between Celtics and Lakers now. While he would have been good here, his very low BBIQ would have been maddening to watch. So I'm fine with it.
I don't support domestic violence. Thanks Miles

Where you seeing that? Haven't seen anything from the national guys or the Boston or Charlotte ones.

Me too. I do not want to pay a guy who has not consistently been a winner big bucks.

I thought it would have been fun, but in a "if it doesn't work, not a big deal, we'll just get a higher draft pick" sort of way. I'd be really happy with Dieng as well.

I would have been annoyed if we’d traded assets for him, but getting him for nothing but cap space really interested me.

Would have been good to see how we looked with a powerful 5 in the starting unit.

TBH I still wanted Bamba or Hayes more though.

Its honestly smart for Drummond to go to the Lakers. I think his lack of value in the trade market the last couple years kind of implies that no team is going to be fooled into giving him a big contract based on counting stats. I think he'll earn a bigger pay day by proving he can help a contending team than he would by going to a place where he'll get more shots.

Does this put the Knicks back in the running?

Oh well...go FAIL Drummond. We were the best destination if you really wanted to have a career and be remembered. Go chase a ring, but don’t be surprised when you continue to ramble around without a team to call your own (one where you were an intricate vital part that everyone remembers).

Now, change your mind, and I’ll change mine!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.
