Good guy and played hard for 3.5 years. Pretty crazy that out of the guys that off-season (James Johnson and Waiters) Kelly became the mainstay.

Just wasn’t cutting it anymore but that’s nothing against Kelly.

Sad to see him go, especially to a team that is struggling like Houston. I wish him luck He always played hard, had some memorable games, and seemed like a great teammate.

Always thought he was somewhat underrated by Heat fans, but my god he's got to be the most inconsistent player I've ever seen.

I do think he showed us the importance of spacing - even when bricking his shooting helped bam and Jimmy. We just need better more consistent shooters that can defend in that role.

Will always remember the beautiful hair. farewell sweet prince.

I thought he was a good fit next to Bam. Olynyk will not be able to sign with the Heat if he is released by the Rockets this season. Hopefully, he doesn’t sign with a team that faces the Heat in the playoffs!

Just curious: why was Kelly used as salary filler vs iggie?

Kelly seems to be the better fit and a much needed stretch big off the bench/spot starter for your team.

Tnx!

My guess is Miami was trying to acquire both Oladipo and Lowry.

Oladipo for Olynyk and Bradley

Lowry for Robinson, Iguodala, and Dragic OR a player from a 3rd team.

The other reason is Miami was not going to be able to keep Olynyk in any scenario. Miami would have needed to pay Oladipo and Lowry had they gotten them both. Now Miami will have to pay Oladipo, Robinson and, presumably, Nunn, Bjelica, and Ariza.

Miami can take the opt-ins on Dragic (~$19M) and Iguodala ($15M) and try to trade for another star player next year or, if needed for tax reasons, can decline the option on one or both.
