I like how we look but lets not be smug--this is a whole different game with Embiid out there
Zu got into foul trouble anyway
Facts.. and its a different game with Ibaka, Rondo, and Pat Bev playing for us as well.
Clippers are my #1 but Sixers are still my hometown squeeze. I watch a lot of their games and Doc has made Embiid into a serious pro. No more scatterass. No more lazy 3-pointers, no more loafing down the floor. This is the adult Joel Embiid and he's still just 27.
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/e/embiijo01.htmlEven if we become a better team than last year with Rondo, were still playing catch-up with the rest of the league. Doc just won 9 out of 10 without his MVP because the Sixers have bought in where last year's Clippers didn't. I liked how we looked tonight but if last year's Clippers had played like Doc's Sixers did tonight [ball movement, pace, and defense are all near the top of the NBA] we wouldn't even be having this discussion.
Fortunately after humiliating themselves in last year's playoffs--and this means YOU Paul George--this year's Clippers are buying into Ty who is pretty much saying all the same things that Doc's Sixers are. It's not a genius secret formula. It's not the Apollo Project or even the NFL.
Tonight was a very scrappy game and I thought both teams gave it heck. No scapegoats. I'd love for us to beat the Evil Empire and for Philly to beat the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants that Durant is collecting in Brooklyn. Now THAT would be fun.
