Re: Welcome to Boston, maybe, Luke Kornet!
Welp, Danny did say that he was looking to add size and shooting.
Dude is 7'2" and has a nice stroke. 25 years old so room for improvement but basically WYSIWYG, not a bad guy to have on the roster.
Seems to fit Brad's system and he can open up the floor for JB, JT, KW for short stinks, pull opposing centers out of the lane, etc. Just needs to hustle and learn the defense and he could get some minutes on this club, bringing that outside touch that Time Lord and Tristan lack.
He might be worth keeping around; we'll see what happens with Drummond soon, and there's Kelly O out there possibly shaking loose. And Dieng. That's about it, so if Luke can impress over the next homestand, he really has a shot to stick.
Not bad for a guy many of us never heard of before last week!
I understand the potential of the Green Kornet for a nick (even though it's apparently pronounced Kor-NAY), but keeping with the idea of him being a broke man's KG, and his haircut, I'm calling Luke, "The Big Cowlick"

It appears from the interview above that Brad’s followed Kornet for a while and likes his pick and roll defense. Also Kornet says he loves the game.
So seems like the acquisition of Luke Kornet wasn’t just a throw in for a trade. The Celtics were actually targeting him, at least Brad was.

The nba Gm and coaches know every player in the league.
I had no idea who kornet was. But I am sure liked the perimeter skill set .

Re: Welcome to Boston, maybe, Luke Kornet!
Other than the decline in 3pt shooting % since his Knicks seasons, the other issue is relatively poor rebounding numbers. I thought he was a worthwhile 2nd round pick candidate in his draft year. Saw him play once or twice on TV when he was at Vandy. He'll block a fair number of shots and is a good passer. If Brad continues to want to scratch his itch for 2 big lineups, I would be intrigued at giving Timelord-Kornet a look. I've said on more than one occasion, I envision Timelord as a guy who might be great playing some PF if you have a legit 7 foot stretch 5.

If this dude is actually good I kinda don't understand why he was only getting 7 minutes per game with the Bulls and often times didn't play at all.
If we give him a consistent role I imagine he'll shoot better than his career averages. Hard to get in a rhythm when you don't play.

Heard Danny had him #2 on his draft board whatever year he was drafted.
(just kidding I didn’t hear that and don’t know what year he was drafted)
But he was in the right spot every second last night, and even tried to box guys out. It was like you could see him thinking every step, he’s very deliberate looking (or maybe just slightly awkward physically).

Not sure if people are aware, but Kornet is really smart.
Perfect score on Math section of SAT, salutatorian of his class, was offered a full ride to SMU for academic scholarship before even being considered a college ball player

Sometimes opportunity. Brad is really good with these guys. It is about putting players in position that they are good at and eliminating their weaknrss.

Uncle Luke??
FACE DOWN 3'S UP!! FACE DOWN 3'S UP!! FACE DOWN 3'S UP!!
DON'T STOP!! HIT IT!! HIT IT!! HIT IT!! HIT IT!! HIT IT!! HIT IT!! HIT IT!! HIT IT!!
Real talk, I've watched some of his clips from a couple of years ago. He's not COMPLETELY a stiff. He has some mobility out there and he's legit 7'2 250. Made a nice pass to a cutter. I'm not EXPECTING a rotation player right now. I have to see more. But his fit is at least intriguing. And in this season, I'll take intriguing all day.
and that's "MR. Irrelevant" to you!!

Zoya posted this in the Pritchard thread. But it also has a lot of Kornet, e.g. aggressively fighting for post position or just handing out in the corner or setting screens or moving the ball ...

A lot of Kornet? I think you mean Mo Wagner (#20). Kornet doesn't appear until the last seconds of the video.
