LeBron Out (High Ankle Sprain)

Post#1 » by TylersLakers » Sun Mar 21, 2021 6:12 am

High ankle sprain for LeBron.

Here's our upcoming schedule:

@ Suns - Sunday
@ Pelicans - Tuesday
vs 76ers - Thursday
vs Cavaliers - Friday

- Anthony Davis re-evaluated

vs Magic - Sunday
vs Bucks - Wednesday
@ Kings - Friday
@ Clippers - Sunday
@ Raptors - Tuesday
@ Heat - Thursday
@ Nets - Saturday
@ Knicks - Monday
@ Hornets - Tuesday
vs Celtics - Thursday

We've gotta get the easy ones and steal a few of the Suns/Pelicans/76ers/Bucks/Clippers games. Interesting tweet that Rachel Nichols retweeted.

Over the past 6 seasons, the average time missed is 10 games for a high ankle sprain. Regardless, we need Kuzma/Schroder/Harrell/KCP to play big and everyone else to chip in.

Light roster for a while with Damian Jones' second 10 day expiring.

PG: Schroder/THT
SG: KCP/Caruso/
SF: Kuz/Matthews/McKinnie
PF: Morris/Kostas
C: Gasol/Harrell/Cacok

RIP our season. Fortunately we won the championship in 2020, this idiot Adam Silver is destroying the health of the players with no offseason.

Schröder, KCP, Matthews, Morris, Jones
Caruso, THT, McKinnie, Kuzma, Harrell

Not great but good enough to win 3 of next 8 games.

Jones' 10-day expired last night. Gasol is off the health and safety protocols, which means he's recovered from COVID-19. I could see him starting tonight and playing limited minutes to get his conditioning back. If he doesn't, I think our rotation will look like this:

Schroder, KCP, Wes, Kuzma, Morris.

THT, Trezz, Caruso, McKinnie off the bench

Wrong take when it comes to LeBron, IMO. Freak accident. The Lakers could have had an off-season that lasted a year and that still would have happened. It was reckless play by Hill. I don't think he meant to injure LeBron at all, but it was certainly reckless.

The Anthony Davis injury was definitely a result of the schedule. You could tell his body, specifically his lower legs were breaking down towards the WCF/Finals. Then they won the championship, and I'm sure he enjoyed that and didn't touch a basketball or cardio equipment, as he should've. Then the season starts, he's clearly out of shape, and for a guy his size to be overweight and running up and down a court and jumping/cutting/changing speeds, etc - that can be a lot on a human body.

I'll state the obvious, seeding doesn't matter if we are healthy and ready to go come playoffs. This is just forced rest for LeBron, could be worst. Hopefully he doesn't try to come back to soon.

On the one hand, when we're healthy, no team in the West really scares me. We've demonstrated we can beat all of them.
So I don't care how far we fall in the standings.

On the other hand, this might be a golden opportunity to strengthen the team for the post season if the right deals come along... I'm on board trading Schroeder for example... I really wanted him before we got him, and he's been solid, but he's not good for our offense... THT is rough and raw and all that, but the offense works better with him distributing over Schroder, which I think is all than needs to be said about Schroder at the 1...

I'd trade Trez for Myles Turner too, but apparently Indy won't ... KCP, Kuz... All of them are trade assets in my book... I'd try to hold onto Caruso and THT, but if an absolute beast of a deal came along, I'd ship them too...

The thing I wouldn't do though is trade assets for an over-30 ring chaser, no matter how good they are... This is when you build around your core for the future, not leverage your future for a panic win now move.

Gonna be a long couple weeks.

Side note: I'd seriously consider KCP deals.

i understand that but were built to win right now. Kumza is good to decent but if we can get good to decent return espiecally someone who can hit 3s and defend decently we have to make a move. Lebron got short window. We gotta be in win now mode.

How many 10 day contract players can we sign?

I'd go sign Lin for a 10day and see if he has anything left. Team needs a backup playmaker who can shoot 3s and mid Js. I'd go for Augustine as well if he gets bought out by HOU. Team needs to tread water as best as possible until AD and LBJ come back. AD is likely out for 2 more weeks and i'm planning on LBJ to be out 5-6 weeks. The team desperately need facilitators as we were basically 100% reliant on Lebron ball and got away with Shroeder being the only other facilitator.

The reason i'd focus on 10 days is that i dunno if we have the roster spots or cap remaining under the apron to sign vet min pro rated players. The team needs vets who can play now, cant really rely on young guys, and able to cut em with no muss no fuss after 10 days if they dont perform.

The sky isn't falling. When healthy we're the top team in the West. Seeding is irrelevant, injury recovery isn't.

6 to 8 weeks tbh could be a blessing, if he gets all this rest and rehab is good could be freshest he has ever been for a playoff run.

I dont see Lakers falling out of top 10.

It’s true. But he’s also very meticulous about pacing himself and getting that conditioning and feel peaked by April/May. Even with all of his experience, it’s not easy to go from light practice to playoff intensity. I just hope his ankle recovers and he doesn’t have any setbacks during the next few weeks.
