Rivers is a worse defender than Teague.

I remember playing Boston, thinking I'd give anything to swap DJ with Teague. DJ was hot trash and never got going. Teague will help.

Bledsoe - Hill - (2)Mason
Matthews - DDV - Pat - (2)Reynolds
Middleton - Korver - Brown - Thanasis
Giannis - Williams - Ersan - DJW
Lopez - Lopez

or

Holiday - Teague - Merrill
DDV - Rivers - Forbes - (2)Toupane
Middleton - Pat - Thanasis - Nwora
Giannis - Tucker - Kurucs
Lopez - Portis - (2)Diakite

The 2nd one. Pretty easily.

Source or guess?

I would bet that's a source.

Grabbing Teague on the cheap is a fine move. Some veteran, actual PG play. This will relieve Donte of having to do PG duties at least.

Problem is, the coach is allergic to having a lead G actually play lead G type of ball in the 4th quarter.

I thought Teague was older than 32.

In theory he could have enough gas left in the tank for a decent playoff run (if only as injury insurance if someone gets hurt).

"The Giannis Effect" is the biggest variable I figure if playing off a MVP makes things easier for him.

Is he, or does the roster(/construction) lead to other players handling the rock? IE Giannis & Khris command the ball as playmaking scorers.

Honestly, rather have Brandon Knight than Teague.

Do we all think Teague takes minutes from Forbes? I do.

You’d rather have the guy who can’t make a team over the proven vet who would essentially have a role on 90 percent of NBA teams?

I know what I'm getting with Teague (not much), With Knight I am inclined to think there is some upside there with age and well...we haven't seen much of him lately. Defintleyy could be worse than Teague, but the he could also potentially be better.

I think Forbes still gets burn, but I think if he doesn't start out hot, we will see lots 2nd DNPs.

Whether Bud can help revitalize Teague is another variable.

Here's that interview Teague gave towards these ends Oct. 2020:

Michael Scotto: You started your career with the Atlanta Hawks and coach Mike Budenholzer. What stuck out to you the most from those years with Atlanta and Budenholzer?

Jeff Teague: Bud was just a guy who would let you be yourself, but he also had a system, and that system was five out, try to penetrate, get to the rim, and shoot threes. At first, it was an adjustment for me coming from an older style playing with Mike Woodson and Larry Drew. When he got there, he just let you be yourself, but he also had a way of reeling you in. I think he did a really good job with our group in getting the most out of us.

I think with Teague, knowing the system and being a better defender (or at least I remember him being a decent defender) adds more value. I am not so sure we are looking for an upside play as much as a reliable play.

Rivers is probably your upside play. Hope things click from 3 and you have an off the street version of Brogdan with his shoot3/take it to the rim shot selection.

I feel like Teague now might be better than Brandon Knight was in his "prime", whatever that was.
