The fact that he won’t be strong armed? Because in the end we got nothing, not even a second rounder for Kyle, and that bargaining power Masai seemingly gained will be for a future trade that may or may not happen.
Reality is - the lack of a deal for Kyle was a miss from Masai. Even a second rounder is worth more than nothing. Helping someone else win or whatever is irrelevant. Another team not named Toronto will win this year, so get whatever you can versus nothing.
It's a total fallacy. You have people who believe that GM's are scared to deal with Masai because he will take them to the cleaners when this deadline proved he is much more in the Ainge category where he overvalues assets to his own detriment.
Getting a poor or amazing return on Lowry isn't going to suddenly inform every deal he makes from here on out.
There have been 3 times in Lowry's Raptors career where he was actively on the outs with the organization so this faux loyalty now was ridiculous. It really only benefits Lowry because it ensures he has an option to still get paid big money.
This loyalty isn't going to benefit the team in any way and as of now it looks like it will actively hurt it.
