There are obviously multiple different viewpoints on the reality of the situation.

One potential reality:
- AK never thought that much of Lauri, hence the low contract offer
- The season was a try out period for all of the young guys and they failed
- The team tried to dump Lauri for a first at the deadline and no one offered it

If that is what has happened then there is a very good chance that Lauri will walk for nothing this offseason. Based on some of the comments by AK at the deadline, he expects to have capspace and if that happens, it likely means that its because Lauri is gone.

IMO, Markkanen's a good and talented player. This said, he's not as good as we hoped he'd be and he doesn't appear to be a good fit for the team as it's recently been reconstructed. It's unlikely that he'll be on the team next season and it's unlikely that the Bulls will get much, if anything, for him after this season. It's not what we wanted, but it is what it is.

Next season, we can expect Markkanen fans to let us know when he puts up a 30-10 for team X. We shouldn't be surprised 'cause he's done it here enough times.
Until the actual truth is more important to you than what you believe, you will never recognize the truth.

7-footers taking charges:

Bagley 19
Olynyk 14
Haynes 13
KAT 11

Even KAT, the worst defender in the league.

No.

To add, Lauri is also not better than Bobby Portis.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

I must say I was super high on him, and he has disappointed mightily. That said, I still think he has a bright future ahead of him, and a new team may be something that he needs to get a fresh start. He still has a good chance to be a very good player, but with Vuc now on the team, he simply is not the ideal fit with him. If only Young was like 5 years younger, or if we had a rookie Taj Gibson.
Why so serious?

I have a temptation (like many in the media) to compare players, “Nba equivalent”. During draft night, I thought the ceiling was a Dirk Nowitzki equivalent for Lauri. Floor could be Daniel Gallinari. Well, jury is out, but he’s no Dirk. Doesn’t have the strength and desire to bang it up a bit in the middle, post up. Ball handling not quite as polished. He’s not a bust but I think what you see is what you’re going to get most likely. —> Trade for Lonzo Ball ! :)

I also thought the Bulls would have been better served drafting Rui Huchimara but that as during the Gar Pax era.

Booby wishes he was half the player Lauri is. Bobby wasn’t better than Niko either. Fans love guys that run around and yell and do nothing.

Lauri will be fine at his next destination. Hopefully Bulls can work some sign and trade out but who knows.

I know we say Lauri and Vuc doesn’t work but we sure need some shooters on this team.

That’s the most likely scenario. Another likely scenario is that his replacement plays for mega bemax right now

Wrong. Lauri is soft garbage (for an nba level talent). Portis shoots better from 3 and rebounds, while defending no worse than Lauri and passing just as little.

I bought into the idea of Markannen when he flashed as a rookie. But that was his high point, with no improvement since. I was suckered, but opened my eyes.

Niko is an “ok” nba starter. Portis a solid reserve offensive big (who is shooting from 3 better than Lauri and has a higher career percentage from 3, too). And so is Lauri. Except maybe not “solid” since he gives you nothing if his shot is off, and can be easily guarded by most 6’7 small forwards.

I love how stating a player isn’t good now means you hate them. Lauri has had 4 years and not improved one bit.

Lauri has regressed what he was as rook and that’s very disappointing. He is as good as gone at this point and Bulls look to future without him. He is maybe better suit for euro basket bc in NBA player must defend and he has no D, no bbiq and no awareness.

Lauri play has been bad but these hot takes have been embarrassing.

I will say Lauri philosophy on defense needs to be completely rebuilt and that might take 3 years to compete. I hope we still keep him for cheap

We have a guy at C who's making $25 million per year and he plays absolutely no defense. But I guess that's fine.

Lauri is bad at some aspects of D, average to above average at others. That's how it is in the NBA.

So Markkanen is basically the worst defender in the NBA, yet 3 different coaches have had no problem playing him for 30mpg?

Ridiculous.

No he isn't, no matter how many times you try to spin it this way it's just not true.

Also that C can score from anywhere, rebounds and passes well, he also at least clogs up the paint defensively.

Why are you trying to use a minutes per game argument? He was the prize along with LaVine in the Jimmy Butler trade he was always going to get big minutes. To his credit he started off his career well, the downside is that his game which includes defense hasn't improved at all in these four years.
