Hornets, led by old friends Rozier and Hayward, win another clutch game. Their team is shooting 49.2% from 3 in the clutch. Leads the NBA. The Celtics? 23.4%. Eeek. Spurs are the only team with a worse %.
EDIT: I think, like us, they'll be irrelevant in the playoffs. But it's been fun to follow them in the regular season.

Not surprising because Marcus Smart thinks he's Ray Allen.
I wonder what the % would be if Smart is taken out of the equation.

The Celts seem to be pressing too much (mentally not defensively lol). They fall behind and press. The opposition goes on a run and they press. The shots don't go down and they press.. Maybe it's a lack of confidence. I don't know what it is but they seem too tight and not loose enough Then it becomes a vicious cycle.
That's the Way of the World

Brown - 5/16
Tatum - 5/15
Kemba - 2/13
Smart - 1/9
Theis - 1/6
Jays have been better but still not good enough. No one from our top 5 shoots better than 33%.
Here's the Hornets' 5:
Rozier - 12/23
Graham - 10/18
Bridges - 4/8
Hayward - 3/6
Washington - 2/5
No one from Hornets top 5 shoots worse than 40%.

Ball movement, or the lack there-of.

That's definitely a factor. Watching the Hornets, it just appears they're more spaced and they're taking those threes in rhythm. 63.1% of their makes in clutch are assisted (3rd best in NBA). Celtics? 43.8% (4th worst). We turn to hero ball and iso when chips are down and things become tight.

agreed. Having one guy, Tatum (who is a Kobe wanne be) with great talent, isn't so bad. but when all 4 of Tatum-Brown-Kemba-Smart do it often, it is bad.
And I know Stevens knows this, but he obviously can not stop it. which I why I want a strong respected voice as a HC going forward. someone needs to tell these players enough is enough, OR ELSE!

Watching Hayward tear it up doesn't bother me in the slightest, but watching Rozier blossom is killing me

Didn't you hear? Rozier sucks according to this board. Sometimes it felt like I was the only one who viewed Rozier as a great player.

Rozier is a baller. Absolutely still want him as a 3rd or 4th option. Showing to be pretty clutch too

Re: Around the NBA (Non-Celtics) 2020-21, Part 1
I wished Rozier wasn't too impatient to be the man because we wouldn't have traded for Kemba. Either way it wasn't going to work because he don't want to play second fiddle to Tatum and Brown. Good that he thrives in Charlotte alongside Hayward. Hayward though, hurts for me because we were there at his worst and he left when he was good. But let's not kid ourselves, deep inside, he never wanted to play a supporting role. He was brought to Boston as a franchise player alongside Horfie and Kyrie not the 3rd 4th option to youngsters. That probably put him off but he had a contract to honor and he was just great at not showing his displeasure.

What I meant is if you remove Smart from the equation it will be closer to 33% than 23%.
The point is Marcus Smart should be shooting 3-pointers in the clutch.

He was always stuck behind someone.
2016 and 2017: Behind IT, Avery Bradley and Smart
2018: Behind Kyrie and Smart (and Shane Larkin took some of his minutes)
2019: Behind Kyrie and Smart (and Wannamaker took some of his minutes)
Maybe he deserved a bigger seat or more time, but Brad didn't think so I guess.

So are we NOT going to talk about KD and his ongoing homophobia and bigoted remarks? We all knew he was a complete a-hole, but he shouldn't be getting a pass for being horrible human because he's good at basketball
