That’s what’s also so disappointing about it, beyond just the prejudiced connotations. He legit sounds like an uneducated idiot, it’s pretty embarrassing.

Like, actually insult the dude. Tell him the peak of his career was shooting a fake bird in Friends. That’s funnier and a deeper burn than anything KD actually said lol.

There was nothing prejudiced lol.

Don't get so worked up over a harmless Twitter **** talking session.

Just saying, KD somehow came out looking like a bigger idiot than Michael Rapaport of all people. Like, how is that even possible?

This wasn't even good trash talk, this just gets you an eye-roll if you actually talked like this to me in real life. It's cringey as hell.

Time to learn how to talk like a big boy, KD.

Umm. No he didn’t. He talked directly to him the same way he does to everyone on a daily basis, profiting from it calling it comedy because he’s a 51 year old white man who thinks his Brooklyn accent and his pop culture John Cena persona is “cool” to black people. His “Dumb ****” rants are cute until someone does it to him?

Sorry but the reality is, Rapoport is a grown man who DM’d KD before and is shocked he got a response similar to what he dishes, sent him a defamation of character lawsuit and argued back and forth with him willingly in a social media page.

I’m really not going to be politically correct on this topic. Rapoport cannot take what he dished and he had every chance to not respond but he decided to create attention because he’s a lame ass Knicks fan trying to push this “villain” narrative. He’s a weak ass man who makes it as a “celebrity” based off status alone and nothing more.

KD has been the same person with a phone for the last 10 years. KD didn’t come out looking like anything but someone who addressed a weirdo celebrity exactly like that celebrity likes to talk.

I’d look at it as immature or stupid if this was some nobody fan like myself or anybody else without a platform but that’s not the case. These are two celebrities. One is A list talented and the other makes his fame off of acting black or mocking ghetto behavior which makes him a loser. KD gave him it raw.

KD should be suspended for it imo. It demonstrates a complete lack of character at worst, and extreme immaturity at best. This is how 15 year olds talk on the internet, KD should be way beyond this.

And no this isn’t me being “woke”. We damn well know better at this point in time, we all are well aware of how words affect people and how we simply need to stop calling things “gay” as a way to insult it, and calling someone a “girl” (the b word in this case) shouldn’t be used as an insult either. And what’s with taking shots at his skin color?

KD needs to grow up, or just be a better person. Regardless, I support a suspension if the NBA wants to enforce one.

Respectfully disagree, KD didn't choose to broadcast this. It was Rapoport that made a heated private conversation public. And there's no way you can get KD for this anyway since he'll just claim his account was hacked and things will go on.

This heated private conversation shows a lot about where KD’s head is at though. He really shouldn’t be using language like that.

I’m not black, and I’m honestly asking this question without disrespect intended...is there not a serious hypocrisy and double standard when a black man voices their issues with social injustice and racism against their community...but then turns around and starts hurling insults against women and the LGBTQ community? C-sucker and the C word and the P word and the B word are just as ugly of words as the F word to me (the homophobic slur).

There’s nothing here to condone but being out of touch with some other people’s realities isn’t also an excuse to shoehorn what offends a smaller group of people. The C and B word has existed well before the LGBTQ community was even prominent in this country.

The C word is something that has a direct meaning to Caribbean’s. Well before. The B word or P word is also commonly used and referred to in decades of Dominicans and Puerto Rican cultures.

I personally don’t really condone any form of that because I’d be a hypocrite to teach my children not to say curse words but let’s stop acting like everything is said to “offend” any other sexual orientation of people when those words are commonly used decades and times when we was not born. Some of us heard it during an ass whooping, some of us heard it during an altercation at school. None of it was to “offend” anybody’s sexuality.

You are equating terms and words that are commonly associated with the N word or any other insulting connotation in the modern culture.

If he called him a directly “gay” or anything about sleeping with men as an insult, that’s where it becomes homophobic.

The fact the biggest issue is ‘homophobic’ instead of why is he telling anyone “he will spit in their face” when he sees them is really alarming. One is clearly more evident than the other.

IDK, I've argued with people without devolving into language like that.

What exactly is the difference between calling someone the F word or queer, and calling someone a C sucker? Cuz I don't really see a meaningful one. It's just that the former was decided by the public to be too offensive, and the latter wasn't I guess.

I don't think cock sucker has historically been used as a way to insult gay people. I've never heard it used like that at least.

Usually just been used as a general insult.

It absolutely is an insult directed at gay people (I'm gay).

This is why I said that it is not myself or anyone's place to tell someone who is in the line of fire of such rhetoric whether it is offensive or not.

I cannot reiterate this enough or why Kevin Durant is wrong and disappointing for expressing that kind of language regardless if it was a private conversation. When you are a public figure in a position that he is in with kids watching him and emulating him, expressing homophobic rhetoric is not only harmful but is flat out dangerous. He needs to apologize and denounce what he said.

KD needs to grow up and start setting a positive example, he has a following of young impressionable fans that want to be just like him. This is no way to talk to people, especially in this day and age it is simply not acceptable. Marginalizing people using language has a negative affect on bringing us together. With all his money and what he has achieved with his talents, he should show his appreciation to God by displaying it in his everyday life. Not like this.

I think the reason that the homophobia is more pressing than the fact that he told Rappaport that he would spit in his face is because no one believes that he would do something like that. It's clearly obvious that KD was just messing with him and dude pulled a dick move by releasing those DMs to the public. However, it doesn't absolve KD from using that rhetoric and getting caught for it. That's 100% on him.

And yeah, being Caribbean I know full well about the usage of the word c__t. To me personally, as long as dudes aren't calling women that word, it's all fair game, but I cannot speak for women who are offended by that. It's not my call. Same thing with calling someone a c-sucker. I'm straight, and I don't use that language, but I have no place to dictate whether a gay person should be offended or not by someone calling someone that.

I've heard the word cock sucker used my whole life and on the court. I haven't heard it used it as a way to insult gay people.

The origin of the term goes back to 19th Century England where it is defined by the dictionary as a contemptible person (used as a general term of abuse).

Maybe we should stop using the word in general. But to act like KD is "homophobic" for using such a common word is a form of alarmism that is just stupid to me.

You're not in the line of fire of that rhetoric though. It's not your call to make on how someone who is apart of the LGBTQA community should or should not feel about someone using that word. Someone calls me that word, it wouldn't bother me and I'll tell that person to go **** themselves. But my reaction is from a straight male perspective. I can't speak for a gay man who gets called that, because their sexuality is being used as an insult. I can't tell the poster that you quoted that he shouldn't feel offended by that word because it was common 'locker room talk' 40 years ago.

I'll frame it like this...what you are saying sounds like when I see white folks online saying "it's just a word, why are they getting mad?" over the topic of someone Black being called the n word. It's not their call to make. And while the c-sucker word isn't on the same historical level of context as the n word, I can't sit here and say to someone gay that they are being overly offended by a slur that doesn't impact me like it does him.

KD said some homophobic stuff. Does it mean he's homophobic? IDK, but it'd be pretty cool if he apologized for this. Obviously it's a private conversation that got leaked, but it's still pretty embarrassing and demeaning.

Also, I don't need your google etymology on this - it's absolutely a phrase that is commonly used as a homophobic slur. I've had people use it with me, and I'm certainly more acquainted with this stuff than you are. I won't add more than that, I'm just telling you my experience and the experience of many others.

I don't accept that argument either. I don't think you need to be gay to determine whether someone is being homophobic or not.

You can say the word is offensive to you personally, that doesn't mean the person using the word is homophobic.

The N word is not in anyway comparable which has historically been used to dehumanize black people.

Like I said if he used the F word or queer I would probably agree. I don't think cock sucker is the same thing.

Different words have different meanings for different people.

I can tell you first hand on the streets where KD is from thats not how people use that word.

Yup.

And it doesnt matter what his intent was with that language. Whether he is homphobic or just ignorant. it is still demeaning speech. There are 10000 other words to call someone out.

I don't view someone being offended as a barometer for calling someone homophobic.

You can't act like everything is offensive or you will start to lose people.

Maybe the context you have heard it in wasnt hoomophobic or offensive.... but im sure many gay people growing up heard it CONSTANTLY in a VERY homophobic way.

And again, it doesnt matter how KD intended it or if he is actually homophobic or not. being completely ignorant is a bad thing also. You can not be an anti-semite and still use slurs against jews and thats not cool. you can not be racist still drop hard n-words and its still not cool.

Dude needs to realize words have power. and you cant just use language like that without it effecting people

It doesnt matter if he is homophobic or not. it is still a homophobic slur. it not bother you is irrelevant. your not a gay person being bullied and called that word every day of your adolescence through high school and beyond.

I don't know why you're trying to spin this racist narrative on me, it's quite pathetic. Nothing I said was racist , I was calling out the double standard and when I see BS I speak on it no matter what it is or who it bothers, I don't hold my tongue. So take your little tempter tantrum childish act somewhere else kid, this is adult conversation.

You're generalizing 42 million people because some dudes called you a nasty name on the basketball court, and you're telling someone else to act like an adult or are accusing someone else of being sensitive? Hilarious. okay. You already told on yourself so it is what it is.

If I generalized all white people because I've been called the n word more times than I can remember in my lifetime, I'd look like a fool, and yet here you are holding a grudge against 42 million ppl you don't even KNOW  I'm sorry those mean dudes on the courts hurt you, but you seriously are a **** ing tool

lol think what u want but it ain't no secret. And ya pretty much do generalize all white ppl, when someone goes on a mass shooting or if there is a school shooting, u know what is the first thing that comes to your mind so cut the crap. I don't hold any grudges, I'm just saying what it is, and I let it be known in person too. This is America, say what you feel and mean it. And I'm not white so this ain't even my fight lol. Now we have Anti asian hate crime and look what's been happening to them lately SMH. You're over here cursing me out because I touched a little nerve. What a cry baby.

IT isnt MDB's fault you generalized the entire black population. thats on you.

Rapaport is another internet tough guy who was baiting KD in ways that he NEVER WOULD face to face.

The proof is he could have chosen to quietly meet with KD, keep talking tough and see how it ended.

But no, instead when KD pulled his covers he went public because he was scared and he's a rat.

I'm with KD on this one, 100%, and I don't care what he said because he was baited by this punk.

That's your opinion.

IMO if someone starts baiting you and calling to names first, all bets are off.
