I see star upside. He's tall, strong, quick, with hops, has a good shot, can dribble some, and seems to have the right mindset. There's nothing preventing him from becoming an All Star. But every year, several guys with roughly similar athleticism and talents get drafted, and most of them never hit their potential ceilings. So ... I watch and wait.
But sure, you could end up being correct. Without question.
Pat has oodles of potential with his skillset and physical attributes, but his success will be predicated on work ethic. Also, as I learned from Lauri, luck (opportunity and health) will play a role as well getting good training advice.
I think it’s totally fair to say Lauri had bad luck with his injuries. But he’s not been shortchanged on opportunity.
So far Patrick Lee Williams has had both health and opportunity, of course. And on the opportunity front, I think it’s pretty clear to all of us that the organization has made it a major priority to develop him, and has a specific plan to do so that they are following. Whether one agrees with it or not.
So everything is in place for him to prosper if his mind is right. Assuming I’m right about his elite upside, which may not be the case.
