I didn't buy it at the time, but I think the people saying he was dogging it and looking for a way out were right. Taking it slow to avoid injury, be less of a culture builder, and be a liability on the court.
Comments to rationalize bad contracts -
1) It's less than the MLE
2) He can be traded later
3) It's only __% of the cap
4) The cap is going up
5) It's only __ years
6) He's a good mentor/locker room guy
