Joey Lucchesi had a strong start against the Marlins as he continues to fight for the final rotation spot, and his “churve” could make him stand out from the others.
Dominic Smith was a late scratch from the lineup with wrist soreness but manager Luis Rojas was not too concerned about it.
Steven Tarpley had another good outing and is making a case for himself to make the team out of the bullpen.
Albert Almora Jr. and Kevin Pillar give the Mets real depth and options in the outfield this season. Almora especially has looked great so far which could be because of a reunion with Chili Davis who was his hitting coach in Chicago.
J.D. Davis is also pleased with how the spring has gone and thinks he has improved his defense at third base.
Pete Alonso looks like the Pete Alonso from 2019 which bodes well for the 2021 team.
