So, who's onboard with Corey Kispert at 6? I was hoping to get him with the CHI pick, but I was also hoping to be picking in the Top 5. Those dreams are now DEAD.

Are you seeing mock drafts or discussion of Kispert going in the top 10? I'm looking around and he's not in the top 10 of any mock draft I've seen.

Def Swami wrote:There are 9 potential wins left in the season IMHO.

WAS - April 7
SAS - April 12
CHI - April 14
TOR - April 16
HOU - April 18
LAL* - April 26 (are James and Davis still out in 4 weeks?)
CLE - April 28
DET - May 3
MIN - May 9

And then there are the other playoff teams that may sit their starters against us. We aren't fielding a good team. This is going to require a lot of luck in terms of who is healthy against the Magic and some likely meaningless bounces in a game or so here. It will require a lot of luck in the lottery. I'm just hoping that the basketball gods reward the Magic for not flat out sucking to finish the season.

Best thing we can hope for is one of the Top 5 guys to tear their ACL during workouts and then we'll have a chance at them. Fantasy Gods have left us ever since we failed to win a championship after landing back to back 1st overall picks back in '92 and '93. They are gondees bro.

nbadraft.net has him at 9. But I don't really like the other guys in front of him. I could be convinced of Keon Johnson. He's got some nice bounce but he's also a little too wild for my liking. Hard to believe that Barnes shot will ever develop. Jalen Johnson is too rigid and more like an energy guy than starter.

Kispert is 22. Few months older than Markelle. He should be plug 'n play. Give us the shooting we need. Stealing a book outta Miami (Herro/Robinson mold).

I take Corey at 6 (with the CHI pick) after I took Cade/Suggs/Green with OUR pick.

17 & 18 the top 3 had much better odds than the new system too

Not sure why everyone’s freaking out going from 4 to 5, WeltHam is just doing the big brain move of getting to that sweet 7 spot

What is this, exactly?

these are the pre-lotto slotted team rank and their actual picking order the last couple years.

2019: 7th worse team picked 1 - 8th worse team picked 2 - worst team picked 3rd, 11 worse team pick 4

Wow...that might be the most important graphic anyone's posted here...for all of the crying and gnashing of teeth about a rare good win, it just shows that Silver effectively smashed tanking. Then, even if you do catch the luck of the ping pong balls, you can go on to evaluate how hard it is to correctly project how good a 19 year old will be in the NBA. Fingers crossed...no sure things here-never rule out trading picks for young talent either. I'd send all 3 of the 1sts we just got for SGA in a heartbeat. OKC might do it, they don't like actual players

That is really quite powerful seeing that laid out for the last two seasons

DOnt put too much stock in the 2019 draft
That was an OBVIOUS "help LAbron get AD draft"

"hey if you guys trade AD to the lakers to maek them relevant again, we'll give you the 1st pick, and we'll help the lakers up their offer by giving them a top 5 pick too"

To me thats just like when Dan Gilbert was gifted the #1 pick 3 times in like 4 years after lebron left, including the year after he left, they got 1&4. They got the clippers pick who just happened to jump from 8 to 1 but owed it to the cavs, and the cavs fell to 4 with their own pick

Literally our only hope for getting 1-4 picks is that the NBA rewards orlando for saving last years playoffs (how many billions did the nba recoup from that??)

If we are playing conspiracy theory, wouldn't the NBA make more money continuing to screw Orlando out of good players so the team moves to Seattle?

I've stumbled into the tinfoil hat thread

I hear they're moving the date up and Lakers will somehow win the lottery so Cade can play in this year's finals in case AD is still out.

Editors Note: this is the millennial use of "Literally", which means something other than literally (I guess)

You can make up reasons for any team to get the first pick for any year.

Ewing draft may have been the only one but they changed it so that the whole process is watched over by all the teams/people/etc.

don't think that's true. More like 1 person for each team(maybe 3) plus league people, the auditing firm to validate everything, and some media folks to report what goes on during the time in isolation.

Yep! At least each team has a representative.

Before i draft him at 6 i offer 3 picks to trade up or trade down & get another asset. Or hope Barnes lerns to shoot or Johnson becomes our MPJr.

So you suggestion is pay 4 1sts for something we should have got naturally without payment or having a trash-tier losing season to end up with nothing...

That's what I'm implying, yes. It is pretty much impossible to do it now with people there to make sure things like that do not happen, unless you are insisting that every team in the lottery is in on it to rig it for another team, as well as outside representatives.

Lakers were bad for a while, Boston sucked for a while, New York is having their first decent season in a while. There is a myth that the NBA is making the big market teams good through devious means. That's all on the players wanting to play on those cities through free agency.

The NBA isn't rigging things to keep Utah, San Antonio and Indiana to have decent to good to great teams for what seems like forever.

Hes in the top 10 of the 2 most popular nba mock draft sites, nbadraft.net and draftexpress (which is now part of espn)

Not say hes my pick, but hes def a potential top 10 pick

you mean the lakers who got the #2 pick 3 years in a row and 4th pick a couple years later?
The celtics who got the 1st and 3rd picks in back to back drafts?

Yes i understand they had good odds, but we were the worst team in the nba over a 5 year span and literally (did i use that right you grammar cop Skybox???) got ONE top 3 pick (oladipo)

Utah, SA and Pacers arent winning with high picks, they have good coaching and a FO thats good at finding gems (two things we dont have)

Any GM who picks Krispert at 6 is gonna get fired lol.

Return to Orlando Magic
