He is actually playing like crazy. 47/10 on 85%. What more crazy you can ask from that?

He's had two awful games against Boston, and then two mediocre games against LAL and LAC before this outburst vs a bad defensive team. 9 turnovers against the Lakers the game before this one. I don't see why you guys show up here posting the last night's stat line and talking how he has chances when he's generally been far from MVP level lately. I picked him 6th in my fantasy league, and he's not justifying it with all the turnovers and mediocre production against good defenses, I don't see how that's a guy that can be in the MVP talks.

Against clips 32-6-3-1

That stat line is below what Jokic/Harden average for the season, while turning it over 3/4 times, not 9. So yeah, as I said, a mediocre game against the Lakers for the MVP race standards.

Nothing close to MVP numbers. 10/21 shooting vs LAC, low reb and asst numbers... And where's the Boston stats in your comments? Maybe go check out what Jokic averages.

Yeah but it's not them who are trailing behind a couple of miles, it's Giannis, so he has to go bananas and he's putting up stinkers left right and center in the last 5. The only game that helps his case is the last one out of last 5.

Indeed Bucks need to get the no 1 seed for Giannis to have a chance. Most Bucks fans don’t care if someone else wins MVP this year. But he should finish in the top 3 unless he has more games like last week, where he looked to be bothered by an injury after he sat out a game. Most of all we want him 100% healthy, when play-offs starts.

He was injured, and now he is back to his normal standards. I can see him actually win the 3rd, but thats me, and i have some bias too, still you cant deny the results, its not a hot take.

Giannis is the best player in basketball. Quite sad that media sheep use inconsistent criteria and biases from the last 2 playoffs (which has nothing to do with regular season MVP) to pick their MVP every year. He is easily a top 2-3 candidate (and likely #1 right now) based on any objective criteria.

Re: NBA MVP Discussion '20-'21, Part 2 (Poll created 21 March '21)
Giannis has a strong case but the narrative is against him. I know that the award is for the current regular season only, but narrative pays a huge part in it.
Giannis has two things that are going against him. His game gets mitigated too easily in the playoffs and his team had two early exits.
This would be his 3rd consecutive MVP and people are not willing to put him in that realm of players. Since MVPs are used as a metric on how a player is viewed historically, every next MVP becomes harder to get relative to his competition.
Its wacky but it has some strange sense to it.

Giannis has also been playing on a sprained knee this is the first gm he looked healthy but the media doesn’t say **** about that. Jokic is the front runner right now but Giannis and the Bucks are coming this thing will go down to last games Jokic has played basketball in 48 gms Giannis 45 even with the knee sprain.

Nobody gets bonus points for playing through an injury, idk why you're bringing it up as an argument for him. Jokic played through a sprained ankle recently, and nobody was using it as an extra argument for his case.
Jokic putting up better stats, Nuggets have essentially the same record as the Bucks in a stronger conference, Jokic played all games, and his supporting cast has surely been worse until the Gordon trade. No, this thing is not going down to last games, this thing is already decided barring something unexpected happening.

It's not really narrative that is against him, it's Nikola Jokic basically putting up better numbers and matching him with the team record despite an inferior support cast and better conference.

Giannis has been very inconsistent this season. Some marvelous games and some mediocre ones too and that’s why the Bucks don’t look as dominant this year.
I mean, you can’t have a couple weeks of average games, then have a monster one and run to the rooftop to scream the name of your guy. The MVP is for a body of work, not an award for what you have done in the last 24 hours.

huh? giannis doesn't have a case to speak of at all. jokic blows him out of the water in terms of stats. in fact, giannis from last 2 years blows giannis from this year out, it's not even close. giannis just hasn't had an mvp level season so far, it happens. he just has to play better, that's all there is to it

Jokic is putting a much better offensive season but Giannis is one of the best two way players out there. Its dishonest to say Giannis doesnt have a case. Its just that Jokic has a better one IMO.
