Knicks stay a joke as usual.

Didn't watch one second of the game by this buttf*ck franchise, but box score watching it looks like the Knicks guards/wings had yet another scintillating effort.
Other than the aged Alec Burks

Oh, and the 2nd game in a row where the Knicks are fighting for their playoff lives and RJ Barrett laid an egg.

Barret's new knickname is RJ3, because he's clearly just a 3rd option, he of the slow robot mechanical moves.

Also, yet again, I fell for the Knicks bullsh*t.

I thought they were doing a better job with a new FO, but it's really the same exact thing as the last 3 years.

Sign 1 year bums.
Win enough games to destroy draft position
Go into the draft and f*ck it up or have luck f*ck it up (hi RJ!)
Save $ for "the big FA's"
Don't sign any FA's worth a f*ck
Repeat

Only difference this year is the coach can actually coach defense very well but he's still a maniacal penquin whose rotations suck, but then again, 3/4's of the players suck, so maybe it's not his fault. Would have to wait until how Thibs looks with a good roster but the chance to conduct that half of the experiment will never come.

Oh, and IQ hasn't looked that impressive since the AS break.
He's "ok". Another overhyped Knicks rookie by the fans.
Which is understandable, since he's actually an NBA player, unlike Frank, Knox or Obi.

yes, trading KP was ultimately a good thing....but that still doesn't mean we got a good return for him. we got a bad return. the best asset we got from the deal is the 2021 pick which will be 20-22 (unless Mavs are miraculously knocked off in the play-in) and the cap space, tho I still think w/ or w/o KP, they would've gone after Randle (probs not Morris tho)

They probably could have gotten Brunson but Pills wanted DSJ

I love the bench reaction to the put back dunk. Best moment of the game.

Obi is developing into a nice modern stretch four with good athleticism. You can tell the offense is getting there and he’s finding his game. It really is the one on one defensive concepts he needs to improve on to stay in the game.

Playing the sh*t out of veteran rentals in a desperate delusional hope to make the Playoffs, while A) saying F*ck it to draft position in a loaded draft; and B) not giving a single F about your recently drafted low lotto picks.

Same story, just more "successful."

Next phase: Missing the Playoffs and Leon feeling intense pressure to trade for a "superstar" since we certainly won't be drafting one or signing one in FA.

but we may all be wrong. making the playoffs behind 1 year vets is called "building a culture" now.

it might be considered building a culture if we got in, but at this rate we aren't going to make it across the finish line

"Draft asset" was a pick that will be about 42 in this draft.

You think the Knicks are going to draft 4 players into the team next year?

It was a solid move.

Then the Knicks traded the result of the last time they picked around 42nd (Iggy) and also who give a **** about Rivers, and got back "a draft asset", only it's probably around 56th.

Trading that 42nd-ish pick for DRose, who was helpful before he turned into Always Injured Again D Rose, was a solid move.

I mean, the team still sucks anyway, but that was a decent use of an asset.

Toppin needs to play more NBA games against slow bearded euro guys who aren't good defenders.
It's probably like the grown up version of who he played against in college.

Unfortunately, these kinds of opponents only offer themselves up when the Mavs are in town, plus like 2 other opportunities.

I guess that's like 6-8 NBA games a year where Obi can show out.

absolutely. as talented as he is, I could see the honeymoon end fast with him.

at least more posters get the bigger picture again. this year will set us back. we had a bottom 3 roster at the beginning of the season and the draft is top heavy. really incredible chance to get your co-star next to RJ, but we are winning many many games just because thibs has our guys competing incredibly hard and we are facing teams without their best players all season long. there is a very slim chance we upgrade the roster in the summer already. Only a handful of FA that can really help (with some of them restricted) and thibs would rather play 50 year old taj gibson then the 17th or 20th pick.
but hey, maybe one of burks, bullock, payton or rose makes the leap next season. :banghead:
So we shouldn't play any games? If your guys RJ, Randle, Mitch and IQ are leading the charge what do you want?

Payton
Bullocks
Burks
Noel

Let's see. Two starters, I'd guess playing about 28-30 mpg; a six man averaging about 25 mpg, and a the back up C.
Add in Taj and DRose if anyone is so inclined.

Let's not pretend the Knicks aren't relying heavily on vets. Then again, most of their youth suck, so it's understandable.

Also, while it's a lot of 1 year guys again, at least they are more wing/guard like, so the roster resembles the construction of a modern NBA team, sort of, at least in positions, if not in ability to create shots and hit jumpers. Or at that rate a good team does.

I enjoyed the run but the Knicks should have gone full youth this year and received a better pick.

Then again, they mess picks up too, so I guess there's pretty much nothing to discuss, other than how much the Knicks suck.

His biggest issue is being comfortable. When I watch him he seems unsure of himself and maybe self doubting. This may be the confidence boost he needed.

So they're going to trade 2 #1's to get Vuc, then turn around and trade Lavine to get those #1s back? And then what? Build around Vuc?

The only way they would trade him is if he gets fed up with the losing and demanded a trade. But even then, because of the direction they have chosen, I'd think they would try to get another star back or a somewhat proven young player(s), instead of draft picks

he expires after next year. if he says he won't re-sign they have no choice but to trade him.

A game like this would have been a good time to try some Randle/Obi lineups.... not that it would have made a difference but at the least it gets Obi some more run.
Mavs
C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone
SG: Vassell | Trent | Livingston
PG: Spida | Mann | Deuce
