This all started when Kemba became a Celtic.

Even with Kyrie in 2019, the Celts were top 5 in assists per game that season.

When Kemba became a Celtic, the Celts became one of the worst teams in assists per game.
Last season Celts were just 25th in assists per game.
This season Celts are just 24th.

Danny Ainge chose the wrong PG for this team.

Kemba is a problem but Tatum has been just as bad lately. Honestly his bad habits have been building since his second season.

He takes way too long to initiate his move, he’s been losing his dribble lately too and then trying to re-initiate eating up more of the clock.

Agree.

That's part of the learning curve.

Just look at the Phoenix Suns.
Last season they were not a playoff team.
This season they're the #2 seed.
The only major change was adding Chris Paul.

What the Celts need is a PG who's a leader, someone like Chris Paul.
That way Jayson Tatum will not be so out of control.

Right now Tatum is being forced to do a lot because the 2 veteran players of the Celts, Smart and Kemba, are not leading by example.

Definitely been the catch 22 kinda thing with Tatum, he’s been playing with the scrub lineup with nobody who can make/create a shot.

Hopefully he learns to trust Fourny and those two can play off each other.

Tatum is reminding me of PP early in his career. Getting the numbers but losing.

These late game almost comebacks are a good sign though. Seeing Tatum take the ball away from someoine and dunk it late in a game because we needed the bucket. He's got to play like that all the time.

Seems like this season Tatum and Brown played a lot better before they were named All Stars. Wonder how much that was on their minds. They have got onve one hump- scoring consistently. The next hump is winning as the main guys. I think they can do it though. I think another trip to the ECF is possible this year.

At this point I am rooting for them to miss the playoffs because missing the playoffs means getting a higher pick vs. getting swept by the Nets or Sixers. No one can give me that BS saying "but the playoffs give this team experience" because this team has been to the EFC 3 out of the last 4 seasons which is more experience than just about any team in the east.

No one can give me one good reason why this team is better off making the playoffs as opposed to getting a better pick.

I'm also hoping they miss the playoffs.

I think we'll know more after this 7-game home stand is over.

If the Celts lose to Charlotte, Philly, and NY, there's a chance the Celts might really miss the playoffs.

I can.

I'n not the poster this forum deserves but the one it needs.

I'm batman.

Ok

Here we go

We could turn it on and win some games and get up to at least 4 seed.

Avoind Nets 6ers and Bucks in the first round. And win. Then who knows. We beat the 6ers before and the Bucks have lost before. Nets are unproven.

Yet again Ainge has a wild draft board and picking at 20 might be the same as picking at 14. No need for a late tank.

Let's just win some games

Do you need an Alfred or Robin? Happy to take either job.

Rockets are well the Rockets but next 3 should be big. Charlotte, Sixers and Knicks.

Legit. Let's sepparate the boys from the man. We lose 2 of the next 3, or even 3, the tank should be on for real. That pick could give us a big time advantage in a trade or even just drafting a talented player in a stacked class.
Good assessment:

Kemba is a ball-stopper for the most part that's true.

I think Danny does his best to trade him this offseason, we will see if he's able to.

As per my MO, here's a positive cherry-picked super small sample stat, post-win:

In 91 possessions this season, the Celtics have a net rating of +20.9 (100th percentile) when Smart-Kemba-Brown-Tatum-Timelord are on the floor together. ORtg: 127.5 (99th percentile); DRtg: 106.6 (91st percentile).

Maybe it's a good idea if nobody gets injured from here on out so they can get more reps together.

Honest question, is anyone looking forward to Thompson coming back? Williams is obviously better. I dont think brad can start Thompson at this point... But I almost like Kornets length and floor stretching as a backup compliment to Timelords rim running, playmaking and rebounding.

Ground bound Thompsons rebounding and little post game with no ball movement should stay on the bench.

I like what Kornet has to offer more, too, but there is a conundrum with Thompson's contract. We will have to play him a bit so that he's tradeable... It's around 10 mils of deadweight if he's glued to the bench.

That is an interesting question.

Guess we'll have to find out what Brad does with TT.

I hate the idea of playing anyone just to keep up their value. Give me LK all day over TT. He plays the right way and is deceptively good at doing little things well.

For the rest of the regular season, I'm good with Tristan starting. While his conditioning./injury risk is still being worked out, Rob is way too good to have his limited minutes wasted as the 5th option on the court, and the first quarter tends to be the trial run to see which of Jays/Kemba is hot today.

Tristan has yet to play with the Kemba/Marcus/Jays lineup this year, and I think that's the best positon for him to have success on this team. Tristan is a liability if there aren't worse offensive players on the floor with him (he's been either starting with Theis or playing with 2 of Carsen/Semi/Grant/Javonte when Tatum was out with covid along with Kemba) , but with that lineup he'll be much more effective as a pick and roll and offensive rebound guy, and more spaced defensively as well.

Rob will surely close games. but that Q4 with Fournier and his highlights with Pritchard this year show he's so much more effective in a lineup where he can be featured more. PP/Fournier/Rob is actually a very good bench, if one more guy can add consistent shooting (semi/grant/nesmith).

Rob is obviously the center of the future but TT starting and playing 20 min, and Rob the other 28 off bench and closing is the best move IMO

I didn't realize we were allowed to post porn here. Not that I'm complaining. Want more porn!

Check out Cs assist rate when any of our starting five were on the floor in that game. This is my dream. 76.1% assist rate for the team was 2nd highest this season.
