He saves so many turnovers that it makes it easier to take a shot on throwing him the lob. Feels like when he started getting significantly more run that guys were missing him on quite a few looks at the rim, but now it almost feels like they're looking for it too much, but with Rob's ability to corral errant or miss timed passes that's not a problem.

He's such an impact player, he plays with a gravity out there that makes things easier on all levels for the rest of the players. He's a cheat code with the lob, he moves the ball well, he's hit his stride playing D without fouling too much. I even think he's got a bit of stretch to his game with how smooth he's been with the occasional jumper.

Robert Williams III is making the leap this year.

I think the way he's played so far kind of confirms the theory that Ainge salary dumped Theis to force Brad to play RW3

I beginning to think they are blatantly keeping TT from the team too for other reasons.

That or TT is damn near on death’s door with COVID, but absolutely agree sending out Theis was more about Rob. He’s always been pretty damn good when he’s gotten minutes and super stoked he’s starting to blossom. Would love, love to see him with a real playmaker on this team.

Hopefully, they get him to sign an extension this offseason before he becomes a full starter next season and someone offers him the max in 2022.

We need to dump Kemba in the offseason to re-sign Rob and Fournier.

Everyone should get paid what they're due but the reality is, doing that would limit a team's capacity to build a championship roster. GSW lucked out when they got Curry to sign a cheap-ass contract post-ankle injury prior to him blowing up. That set them up great for the next couple of years along with Dray and Klay outperforming their rookie contracts.

My guess is Robert is already practicing... and will be a surprise long-distance weapon at playoff time like Aaron Baynes several years ago.

I don't think that is the case honestly. He will need to add some sort of basic mid-post dribble/drive game like Bam has, and become a 70%+ FT shooter. With his vertical game at the rim, he spaces the floor in a different way.

I've posted before, I'm curious in what areas the coaching staff is encouraging him to develop. I agree with you that 3pt shooting is not essential to being a significant scoring threat for him. He does need to continue to hone his mid-range shot. He frequently fades when he shoots. But you're right, it's more the dribble drive/face up game that he needs to further explore. I pointed out last night I liked that he drove in that one instance. Last week he took a pass from Tatum, saw the middle was open, took a couple of dribbles in, and whipped a pass to the corner. In doing do he also did not have momentum that would have led to a charge when defender reacted to move into his drive line.
Thanks Brad for answering my ad,
"Boston Celtics Barbershop, cutters wanted."
But after KP, your C play? You broke my heart Fredo.

Rob IMO could blossom into the C's #1 alpha team leader and best player. Let the Jays squabble over who's #2 and 3.

Tatum and Brad are cold fish personalities, but Rob's got the charisma, smarts and leadership genes. He's already more mature on the court than most of the other players. My guess is he'll be sticking 3s within 24 months too, but as has been noted that's not required for him to be the best player on the court.

I have been a huge Timelord supporter since the first game he played for the Celtics. He's my favorite player and I have great faith in his abilities, so I might be biased. I'd offer him $18M per year (72/4) without hesitation. Maybe with his injury history you can get him to bite on something like 50-60/4, but I want to resign him before the whole league takes notice that Timelord is indeed one of the most talented big men in the NBA. Timelord is a keeper at all cost. He's the key to contention (besides Tatum and Brown).

Don’t need him shooting 3s. Would LOVE to see him attack the rim more off the dribble.

This sounds crazy but I can see where you’re coming from kind of.

No antics with Rob. He got his first technical last night, but the dude is refreshing to see that he doesn’t complain for calls or yell at refs. He’s surprisingly mature given his prospect rep.

Yep.

Also, to go along with his 8 assists in 26 minutes last night he had zero TOs. For his 111 minutes in four starts so far this year, he has 21 assists and 3 TOs--for a 7/1 Asst/TO rate.

"the more minutes he plays the more comfortable he feels"

Which is the the case I have been making about the need to play young players if they have the talent. Can not teach game experience from the bench Brad Stevens.
