Oladipo to Heat: your take?

My concerns about the front court were unfounded. Nemanja Bjelica and Trevor Ariza are stronger than Kelly Olynyk, Chris Silva, and a non-playing Meyers Leonard. Ariza has been especially good the last couple games. He may fill the Crowder role from last season. And losing Avery Bradley is compensated by Oladipo's defense. He also hit his first 3 against the Cavaliers tonight, but the shooting ain't great.

I'm not worried about the shooting just yet. Learning a new system is tough. He's a gravity player. How presence on the floor is taking attention from guys like Robinson and Herro, and when his shot starts falling as he gets more ingrained in the system, he's going to be huge for us...

Exactly, not everyone joins the Heat and starts shooting well. Even Ariza said he’s going to have an adjustment period to get used to what is considered a good shot to take.

I think once his legs have a full, proper offseason to rehab and strengthen he’ll be even more explosive.

Still worried about the big Cs, like Ennius, etc, but I think we’ve got a good core going forward.

I have to admit, when we signed Lamar Odom all those years ago, I felt almost like you did, here, so I understand the inclination. You know I want keen on Oladipo either but for that price, and given what he's been showing so far, I'm good with this...

I don't think there's any chance Houston wins this trade. They didn't get anything of value beyond this year.

So there are multiple ways this trade could end up being a win for Houston, whether you consider any of them likely, or to be sizable or not are different debates.

Unfortunately Hou won the trade by default due to Vic's injury. Olynyk has been playing out of his mind, his bird rights may bring value or Hou might look to bring him back, and we got the swap rights to Miami's 1st.

Tough situation for Vic, wouldn't be surprised if he's a vet min next year

The Rockets have won THREE games since he’s been there, Houston didn’t win anything. Sucks Vic got hurt but the team is doing just fine without him. That’s 100% worth the gamble for Vic even at this stage, Kelly is just another Evan Turner situation in Philly before being traded to Indy.

I feel great about my vote that Houston won, one of the 4.

That pick swap isn't nothing.

This is a pretty bad post

The amount of games Houston has won isn’t relevant to the value of the trade at all, we want to lose we are tanking.

We got the swap which is eligible to be swapped with the Nets 1st.

Olynyk balling is not comparable to Evan Turner due to his insane efficiency, inflated numbers aren’t really inflated if they are effecient, turns out Kelly just fits well in Houston and does well with a bigger role

I don't think olynyk factors in here much for the rockets unless he re-signs at a tradable amount this off-season (and I hope he does, he converted this long time olynyk hater) . The rockets with a slight win here because they got a pick swap for a guy who was bad for them. The heat are pretty large losers though, they're going to drop in the draft next year in all likelihood, and actively got worse for it. Bjelly has not been able to replicate what olynyk was giving them, and certainly not what olynyk has given Houston, though who's to say he'd have given the heat that in their system/ his role there.
