Keep in mind that in Roy's first full college season (Sophomore) he averaged only 12.9 points 5.3 reb 3.3ast 1.2stl. In comparison Suggs is at 14.1pts 5.5reb 4.6ast.
Good enough for me!
Hey, if the Raptors would've properly drafted Aldridge #1 to pair with fellow Texan Bosh (being progressive with the double PF attack), who would Portland draft #2?
OMG, the T-Wolves traded #6 Roy for #7 Randy Foye, to save a few dollars.
All it too for Portland to move up from #4 Tyrus Thomas and Viktor Khryapa was adding a 2nd pick for Aldridge.
The lesson here isn't to laugh at the unbelievable value differences of those two moves, but to remember that those outcomes are common. Foye and Tyrus were hyped prospects heading into that draft. There were draft boards that had those 2 above LMA and Roy. Easy to call in hindsight, but not at the time.
There are guys in the top 5 of this draft that will be much worse than the players chosen around them. I'd expect a player in the 10-15 range will be significantly better than one of the consensus top 5 picks.
It happens every year.
