I'm being mild in my criticism for reasons that probably resemble yours for evidently not being critical at all.

And by the way, my wedding vows did not have a clause about fidelity.

I’ve heard Pierce used to go to Manray in Cambridge. Either way, he’s a freak, for sure. My guys are around a lot of high-profile athletes, and what we saw on Instagram is the rule and not the exception. Not everyone, of course, but most players do and a lot are way further out from that. It’s just a different world for these guys with different rules of engagement. Most of the wives/partners are fully aware and some are active participants or have their own freak going on.

Sounds crass and doesn’t apply to all of them, but it’s no hyperbole to say that a lot of them literally won the lottery the second they married a professional athlete, especially one of Pierce’s stature. They have money and status and some degree of fame. As to the professionals, they are generally well-compensated and into the lifestyle as well.

I haven't been to Man Ray since I was around Pierce's age. :) And then only a couple of times total.

It never impressed me much anyway, as it was pretty tame compared to what I was used to from NYC, not that I went to those places very often either.

No doubt. One other thing to add, because one of my guys is pretty familiar with this aspect, is that a lot of these women just get paid to show up, with no explicit agreement of sex. Pierce paying $10-12k to have some strippers or escorts in the room giving lap dances and back rubs to him and his boys is equivalent to the cost of a nice bottle of wine to the rest of us, and not really illegal other than the likely tax evasion. Even if sex does take place, it is pretty much as the woman's discretion without a direct, tacit money-for-sex transaction. Maybe they get a tip at the end, but these aren't streetwalkers or anything.

A lot of them making their own bank off instagram or onlyfans anyway, and realistically are just being paid to show up, look hot, and have a good time. Some of them get "booked" through a service, but like every other industry, technology has disrupted it and a lot of it just happens via DMs and with repeat customers that they are actually friends with over time (or even co-parents with). All very common in pro athlete circles. People can judge it or not, but again, it is a different world than the rest of us live in, and they are the same guys we are more than happy to root for on game night.

Offcourse this is very common in these athlete worlds but that cannot be the reason we should say its cool, eventhough theyre our idols?

We cant hold a different moral for stars just because theyre starts IMO. No one with children should do this or say to this ‘well its normal in that world’. Its also normal in some worlds to just constantly be influenced by drugs just to achieve. We shouldnt label that as normal either, eventhough it is normal in their world.

I don't see a big moral issue here at all. Consenting adults, and a drug that is less harmful than either alcohol or tobacco.

Pierce trying to go to work at ESPN this morning...

That may all be true(dependent on what state you're in) but the optics of it..ESPN can't have.

Thus him being let go today.

I'm kinda happy lol. His terrible commentary was overtaking his awesome playing career in my mind and ruining my image of him.

That's wack as **** honestly. He gets fired for chilling at his house/having a good time on IG? I swear I must have watched a different video than everyone else. You would think he had fully naked women shooting a sex tape behind him or something

I can back this up too.

I have a friend who played in the NBA for a couple of years and he told me stories of how they would basically "book out" a venue or a strip joint and get all the females and staff at the venue to sign NDA's and it was quite a regular thing.

It's just the world they live in and everyone knows it.

I would not have fired Pierce for posting the video but I was expecting ESPN to fire him given some of the bad incidents that women have had working in sports media.

Many women (and some men) who work at ESPN probably thought Pierce sharing the video with the world was inappropriate even if his wife/kids were fine with it. Sure the woman in the background wasn't naked or having sex but she was simulating a sexual act. And in the audio of the video, Pierce appeared to be calling for another stripper/perhaps highly paid prostitute to appear as well.

Many modern feminists and even other people that don't buy into modern day feminism may admit that by letting that video go, ESPN/Disney would be contributing to a hostile workforce for women in general. i.e. they are just sexual objects and not people whose work should be taken seriously. Where to draw the line is a difficult decision since we are all sexual beings but most people don't post videos like that online.

Chances are ESPN doesn't fire Pierce if he does the exact same thing but someone else recorded and posted the video without his knowledge.

And let's face if if Pierce was a cash cow for ESPN, they at worst suspend him so these corporate policies are subject to the almighty dollar as well.

Probably shouldn’t be fired from this but thank god he can no longer embarrass himself on national tv on a weekly basis. Get him a coaching job and keep it moving.
