Holiday's extension:
year 1: $30M
year 2: $32M
year 3: $34M
year 4: $37M (option)

What realistically available player are you going to get for that kind of money instead of Jrue. Kevin Love, Wiggins, Drummond?
It's a lot of money but it's not like you get to pick any player in the league and just buy him on Amazon. The options are worse players for just as much money or almost as much.

It's not as massive of an increase over his $26M he's getting paid now, which was considered a fine contract.

Winning in the NBA isn't a game for cheap owners, especially for locales that have to compete with inherent disadvantages compared to LA/NY.

More I think about the more it scares me about what Zach is going to want.

zach will get the max as well. w/ no "they better win a championship" caveat attached

Zach has clearly become a max player now. With the acquisition of Vuc, the conversation has shifted from rebuilding to how do we acquire another high level player and fill out the roster.

If the Bulls don't first start winning with THESE players, I don't see Zach or Vuc staying in Chicago. Sure, they should be responsible for adding wins in the first place, but that's how it goes in the NBA.

And no, Zach hasn't played anywhere near like a max player after the All Star break

You'd think cheap bastard owners would have learned their lesson and realized being cheap now with a title contender means they just end up paying more later to get that team back after seeing what happened to Phoenix and Oklahoma, but no.

I never got the Bledsoe/Brogdan choice and never got why it was Brogdan going. Should have kept both of them. They can't be doing too bad with the new arena. Or bringing in Holiday over Paul. I think CP3 would have fit them much better and cost much less.

Now they've gutted their whole future for Holiday. Who's not even a real star.

They did not gut it for holiday, they gutted their future to retain Giannis and over paying for holiday and to keep him is the cost of that. Giannis potential of walking is what gutted that team. The 40 mil is kinda inconsequential too, there is little done with capspace if you only paid him say 30 mil, you are still in the same boat. Now your future is trading for John Wall or another overpaid player.... it’s not pretty at all. I’ll bet the Hawks and Pelicans do similar things to keep Trey or Zion from leaving. I actually think this trend is going to get worse...the Bulls have in essence already done this with Zach on a smaller scale.

No it was for Holiday. CP3 was traded for a much smaller package. It was contracts and a first. They chose Holiday.

I said at the time and now, they'd have been better off with CP3. CP3 is the playmaker they needed. Milwaukee will continue to struggle in the playoffs like they always do.

He certainly was pre allstar break. I think they'll be a playoff team this year. CHO and NY will fall out.

I think after this hard stretch of the schedule, the wins will start coming in.

I hear what you are saying and absolutely agree, CP3 though from a timeline sense was a bandaid and they were looking for a core for Giannis length of contract. I also absolutely agree CP3 would have been a huge upgrade over Holiday for the next year or two which is really the championship window. I never liked the Holiday trade it reeked of desperation because it was. They pooped the bed with letting Brogdon go. Also CP3 is still likely more effective in 3 years than holiday. Maybe I just don’t think that much of holiday though.

CP3 like you said will be a high level player in a couple of years but he also could be traded as an expiring to move on to the next star. Just never really felt Holiday was what they needed. CP3 can create and run the offense which is what they need when things get hard in the 4th.

Milwaukee dropped the ball twice on this. That’s why they just had to pay the wrong guy to try to keep Giannis. CP3 was a better this year guy and they are competing this year... that’s why Giannis likely should have left. That’s also why these stars are building their own teams, it’s tough to do it the “right” way. Milwaukee is more than all in with the 2 time MVP and they are still short on the bet. Holiday wins big though, he just won the Otto Porter sweepstakes. Granted he is better than OPJ massive, massive overpay. The more I watch teams fumble and as time passes I respect Krause more and more. Can’t ever forgive his hubris but he did do a good job with the opportunity presented him.

Watching Nets/Knicks game and have the Nets feed. I had no idea Sarah Kustok was calling games full time now. She’s really good at it. She could be the next Doris Burke.

Then I googled her because I could not remember where she played college ball, and came across the stories about her mom and dad. That’s crazy. Not living in Chicago, I never heard about any of that.

I love Luka as a amazing player.. But who else also thinks he is probably the biggest crybaby in NBA? Complaining about no foul calls, aaaaall the time.. Annoying!

The Nets feed is the best in the league IMO. Eagle and Kustok are a perfect duo.

Yeah that story was very odd. The explanation of the murder was illogical IIRC.

could you imagine........

https://www.nba.com/news/5-potential-nba-play-in-tournament-matchups:

Chicago Bulls vs. New York Knicks
You can expect a major scrap between the teams if this matchup somehow materializes, especially when you consider the fact these clubs haven’t clashed in the postseason since 1996. This isn’t exactly the playoffs, but it’s close enough. The storyline of Knicks guard Derrick Rose, a Chicago native, facing the team that drafted him No. 1 overall in 2008 adds an extra level of intrigue. Both teams haven’t been in the same playoffs since 2013.

Yes please.

Good ole Thibs and Rose vs our 'new' core in a winner take all game
I will reactivate Noah myself if necessary

Richard Jefferson was with them too and was “being himself” more than his more buttoned down national TV work. He was cracking me up.

I vote for Breen/Clyde for the Knicks, but I have the Nets at second. Richard Jefferson is great, too. The New York area announcers make the rest of the local NBA announcers sound like small towners.
