Lakers are worse than a Beal, Hachimura less wizards team so tomorrow could be another win.

Excellent point. I didn't even see those teams pick up the W.

Just looking at it now for sure TWolves + Rockets aren't moving out of the top 3 just because pick protection.

Pistons picking up a win is huge, hopefully Casey coaches them to a few more W's.

We're now 3 games ahead of the tanking Magic and the Westbrook/benched Beal Wizards who are at 4/5. Not where we want to be. We gotta close this gap or they can pull away from us.

Cavs are talented enough to shoot themselves past us.

OKC is just openly tanking as well at 7th.

Looking ahead to tomorrow:
Drummond practised with the Lakers today so it's likely they'll roll with him tomorrow. We played our guys heavy minutes to beat this Wizards team when we were down 10 (WHY). Gotta secure a W for the Lakers and Drummond eat up our lack of rebounding. I'm still circling the Cavs game on Saturday as a must lose.

If we lose the next 4 games this week we can salvage some of the ground we lost. But anything else I think we’ll be stuck at around the 7-8 pick mark.

These other tanking teams (magic, wizards, cavs) don’t have a whole lot of wins left in the season. Especially the cavs and magic, both their schedules are brutal if you look at them. Wizards have an easy stretch but they’re resting Beal, Hachimura and Robin Lopez if today’s injury means anything.

I agree with this. I think the Raptors best case scenario is finishing 7th or 8th. Minnesota, Houston, and Detroit will be in the bottom 3. I do not see the Raptors passing the other tanking teams- Wizards, Magic or Cavs to get in the top 5. Raptors had to start tanking a month ago to be in that range, but I do not see it happening now. Best case scenario is for some luck to bounce our way in the draft, so we can at least get the 4th pick. If not, we need to focus on the 6-12 range for the Draft.

Minnesota has DLo back!!!!

I got so angry tonight.

 If you were half as angry as I was, you were indeed angry. I've got learn to stay away from the "team mediocre" dominated game threads. Sorry, but when I commit to a cause, I go all in!

I couldn't even bring myself to watch the NCAA final. After thoroughly enjoying the Zags win over UCLA. What's the point? We're not getting Suggs.

Anyway, 7th (31.2% chance at top 4) is really slipping away, unless Beal comes back, wrenches the ball away from Russ, and wills the Wizards to multiple victories. 8th (26% chance) is still in play. Maybe tonight's win pleased the Lord of B-Ball Karma sufficient to consider rewarding us on lottery night.

It's truly unbelievable how many games we've had against teams missing their best players but maybe our covid patch balances it out to be fair. But fack do I ever want us to remain in the bottom 7 at worst. Still getting someone like Jalen Johnson or James Bouknight makes it somewhat ok having a garbage season but still dreaming we fluke into the top 5 the way the Lakers did when they finished 12th during LeBron's supposed "groin" injury that took double the time to "heal" and also become a big asset to complete the AD deal.

Finally watched the game...damn Gary...that dagger hurt bad lol. It boosted his offseason stock, and hurt the tank bad (tied with OKC and gave WSH a cushion against us). Man, that's rough, hopefully Drummond plays tomorrow and gobbles all the rebounds.

Need to start looking at prospects in the 11-14 range. We could be mathematically eliminated from the play-in series and Nurse will have Siakam/OG/FVV out there 40 mins with Masai's blessing.

W vs GSW missing Curry and Draymond
W vs Wiz missing Beal and Rui
Now vs LAL missing Lebron and AD

What a cruel joke.

Out of spite I want to see us make playoffs, get swept in 1st round and then get lower pick - just to see the crazy rationalization Team Mediocre comes up with in their circle jerk

As long as we stay in the bottom 8-10 they should still get a really nice young player in this draft, finishing bottom 5 ain't gonna happen.

A 2-3 game streak one or the other way between us and the teams below us and it’s a real possibility.

We’re still far from claiming we won’t be bottom 5.

We should try to get to spot 8 or better. Any lower than 8th, the odds of leap frogging to top 3 pick becomes insignificant.

Since the 2019 draft, the odds of each seed winning the first pick are:

1. 140 combinations, 14.0% chance of receiving the No. 1 pick
2. 140 combinations, 14.0% chance
3. 140 combinations, 14.0% chance
4. 125 combinations, 12.5% chance
5. 105 combinations, 10.5% chance
6. 90 combinations, 9.0% chance
7. 75 combinations, 7.5% chance
8. 60 combinations, 6.0% chance
9. 45 combinations, 4.5% chance
10. 30 combinations, 3.0% chance
11. 20 combinations, 2.0% chance
12. 15 combinations, 1.5% chance
13. 10 combinations, 1.0% chance
14. 5 combinations, 0.5% chance

The problem is we aren't out tanking Minny, Houston, Detroit, Orlando, Washington, Cleveland and OKC is now on full fledged tank mode too. The Raptors needed to lose the last two games, those were crucial for the tank, we'd have to get hit with another covid protocol or something because as you can see Nurse is playing to win while those teams that I mentioned are playing to lose.

Remember the way the lottery works, is every team in the lottery is trying to get into the bottom 4. So a team in 8-10 could move into the bottom 4 by winning the lottery. The lottery isn't just for the #1 pick.

Last year the 9th place Hornets got in. As did the 7th place Bulls.

So being in the 8-10 spot could be the sweet spot again. Although I'd feel more comfortable in the 6-9 range than 8-10 range. Plus 9 or 10 gets us in the play-in round most likely.

The bottom 4 is definitely locked and loaded. Nobody is getting behind Detroit, Minny, Houston or Orlando. That 5th spot is up for grabs but I think it'll come down to Washington, Cleveland or OKC. Just dreadful teams all around. Although Wiz are going to get Beal back any day. OKC might get Shai back as well. And the Cavs are starting to play Love again.

Keep in mind the more savvy teams will start doing load management in May. Luka/Zing on the Mavs most likely. And of course Kawhi/Paul George.

In other words put in the work now. Secure our ticket and avoid Raptors late season surge.

I don't understand this. What do you mean by anything worse than 8th is 'insignificant'?

It's at least a 4 player draft (i.e. As of now, the top 5 could go in any order).

All 4 of the top picks get raffled individually, one after the other.

If you have the 9th worst record you have 20% chance of getting one of those top 4 picks.

I don't consider 20% insignificant.

8th worst record has a 29% chance of jumping into the top 4.

So, that ~9% is the difference between significant and insignificant?

I don't think so.

Honestly, I thought we would lose to the wizards and beat the lakers. But so far the lakers are dominating us and OG got ejected. So let's hope it evens out and we lose tonight.
