Truth be told I don’t even see Oladip as a better player than Nunn. Nunn is a far better scorer. If Victor can’t get it together soon he just cost himself a lot of $$ and can soon find himself on the bench.

PS. Since the trade happened Kelly O is dominating Victor in the stats department. Points, shooting %, rebounds, assist. Some may look and even say we lost this trade lol

Oladipo has played just a few games with no real practice time. Obviously he isn't going to average 6 pts a game as he gets more acclimated.

PS. Basketball is a team game not a competition of individual stats. Right now we haven't lost with Oladipo, the Rockets are 1-5 with Olynyk.

Just call it what it is. Oladip has Been trash and Kelley hasn’t. No need to dive in too far

That’s your narrow perspective. I’ve seen an instant upgrade on defense and increase in offensive efficiency. Keep box score watching

Is there any conceivable way to add Kawhi and keep Dipo? I assume a S&T where we send picks to LAC.

The best way is to let Oladipo go and use the money available to sign Kawhi so that we can also keep Duncan and Herro. Then we could acquire a point guard like Kyle Lowry or anyone else with a sign and trade or just a regular trade. A regular trade would have more advantages, but it also requires draft picks and would take 3 months or more. The positive side is that we can always sign Dragic and we have the luxury of waiting for a new point guard.

don't need dipo at all if kawhi can be had but knowing how kawhi forced the Clippers to mortgage their future to get PG13, he would at least agree to be part of S&T so that the Clippers can get something in return.

let's hope that Pandemic P shows up again in the playoffs

You could be right, but I wouldn't bet the house on that. Kawhi Leonard has been with the Clippers for two years and after he leaves (if he ever does) the Clippers still have Paul George. My point is that Kawhi owes the Clippers nothing.

Oladipo is a better defender than Nunn but offensively he's been poor. I like KO but he ain't worth crying over. We were going nowhere as is, there needed to be a change. If Oladipo can get himself back to what he was offensively the team that can reach the ECF finals. Prior to the trade this team was headed to a 2nd round exit at best.
Now that's a big IF, but for what we paid for the trade is well worth the gamble.
Spo and Oladipo got lucky with the timing, he came in while Nunn was hurt. But if Oladipo continues to suck offensively Spo is going to have to make a decision between the two. I don't think there's enough minutes for all 4 guards.

Do people really believe the first 2 games with 0 practices has shown what Oladipo will be in Miami? It may take weeks before Oladipo is not only integrated but comfortable enough on the team to show what he can bring to the team on the offensive end.

Hopefully after finally having a practice with his team Oladipo looks a little more comfortable out there. There were many, many plays where Oladipo had no idea what his teammates were doing, in fact Butler was thrown off some too with the new guys.

How about...
Negotiate the assets with LA that it would take to acquire Kawhi(S&T) vs signing him straight out.
Miami opts in with Dragic and Iggy, package them and the agreed assets for Kawhi when free agency starts.
Miami resigns Oladipo(if they feel he's a good fit) and resigns Robinson.

Miami in the tax with Oladipo, Robinson, Butler, Kawhi, Bam as the starters, Herro, KZ or Precious, Strus, Vincent and any good vets wanting to chase rings. You have incredible switchable defense and 4 of them can put 20 points in a game on any given night.

It's not about how much money we want to spend or how many players we could sign. If we complete a sign and trade, Miami will be considered to be hard-capped and must keept below the Luxury Tax Apron ($143,095,840 next season). The Cap Maximum is $112,414,200 and we can exceed it, but we cannot go over the Luxury Tax Apron ($143,095,840). Jimmy Butler ($36,016,200), Edrice Adebayo ($28,103,550), Kawhi Leonard ($39,344,970), Victor Oladipo ($20,000,000) and Duncan Robinson ($16,000,000) make a total of $139,464,720. Now, try to fill in the team roster until you have 14 players. It can not be done. If the Clippers want Tyler Herro, you don't want to sacrifice Tyler to sign Victor Oladipo.

My guess is that Miami will exercise its $19,440,000 club option on Dragic and they will attach Achiuwa and trade them both in exchange for a trade exception and a first-round pick. The next step will be to trade KZ Okpala for a pick and relinquish the bird rights of all players except Jimmy Butler, Edrice Adebayo, Duncan Robinson and Tyler Herro. We let Oladipo go and then we used the available money to sign Kawhi. Now we can sign Trevor Ariza with the mid-level exception and maybe we can include Max Strus and Gabe Vincent. After all that, we can sign veteran players for minimum wage and complete the team roster. Several months later, before the trade deadline, the Miami Heat can acquire a good point guard, perhaps Kyle Lowry, using the trade exception we created with Dragic and Achiuwa.

Some random agent says Kawhi is interested in joining up with Jimmy and Bam?

I'm going to hold off on the excitement.

Agents always know what happens behind closed doors, and if they don't, they are in the wrong business. Also, if Leonard's camp wants to send a message, this is one way to do it. Still, I will also contain my emotions.

Right after I give Barry props for reporting, I find out he (and all reporters) somehow missed a workout and a random person reported it on Twitter? Heat do keep things to the vest but we need better insiders.

How do you watch the way Oladipo has fit in defensive and say he isn’t an upgrade over Nunn?

Our problem is not scoring points. We can’t get big stops. Oladipo and Ariza have both been awesome additions

I remember Dedmon being pretty terrible in his last few years, but honestly any tall player is an upgrade right now. Outside of Bam we are essentially playing rockets small ball

Do we still have a 2nd roster spot? May be wise to double down on end of the bench bigs

We do, but all reports are we won’t fill it. We are enough under the luxury tax for one rest of the year contract, not 2.

Not sure if that will change as the end of the year approaches.

We get what we get for waiting. Just give us some damn defense and rebounding.

Return to Miami Heat
