Not sure if you're trolling. I'd say what it really comes down to is having a guy or guys that can generate high level offense either for themselves or their teammates or both. Jokic is basically that player, but he's nominally a center.
The things are either be an elite scorer and elite defender, or be an incredible ATG scorer, solid passer, neutral/bad defender or be an elite scorer and an elite passer and a passable defender. For the top 15 range, just be a passable scorer, elite defender as a big man (Rudy Gobert).

He's definitely not.

30. Hayes (or Lee or Smith Jr. or Joseph, whoever they are putting out there).
Walker is definitely better than all 5 of those starting point guards, plus I'd take him over Beverly, Garland, Schroder, Wall, Graham, Ball. He's solidly in the same tier as guys like Brogdon, D. Murray, Morant, D-Lo, Westbrook. In that 13-18 tier for me. In other words, an average starting point guard.
EDIT: Since I'm bored I'll go with my top 12 too.
1. Harden
2. Curry
3. Lillard
4. Doncic

5. Paul
6. Holiday
7. Simmons

8. Young
9. J. Murray
10. Fox
11. Lowry
12. Conley

Ah yes, the olde "you can't win with a great point guard and the ones that did win don't count" argument.

Yea it's a dumb take. It's just because the best players in the league are small forwards (and Lebron has dominated for a long time) but i don't think any position is "overrated". You could make the argument that you can get by with a below allstar center as long as he can play defense.

Yup. Jordan, Kobe, and LeBron gobbled up half of the available rings in the last 30 years.

White doesn't start anymore, Sato does. He doesn't put up big numbers but is very rock solid. Might be on his way to the 50/40/90 club.
Ya Sato is a lot better than White. White just isn’t a PG in either skill or mindset.
The problem with ranking the bottom 5 starters at any position is they often don’t remain the starter for very long. But I definitely wouldn’t but Patrick Beverley on the list, elite defense and solid 3 point shooting is exactly what you require when you already have a couple of stars handling the scoring load. He’s irritating as anyone but he’s still the type of guy you win with.
I would include Detroit’s starter of the week. OKC’s starter of the week. John Wall has been really, really bad in Houston with his sub .500 TS on a high volume of shots and massive TO rate. He’s posting a huge negative in RPM on the season.

Tell that to Chris Paul. Or Damian Lillard. Or Stephen Curry. Or now, James Harden. To me, being a contender means you are consistently in the playoffs, have made it past the first round more than once in your tenure at that position, and had circumstance get in the way of going any farther.
*But in regards to the question #1-5 are Elfrid, and Payton.

Rubio doesn't start (D-Lo/Edwards/Beasley are their starting guard).
White also has been coming off the bench in favor of Satoransky (who I would put in the bottom 5 as a starting point guard).
Go Knicks!

Sure, he's rock solid, and I would rather him over Payton on the Knicks, but you have to admit that he's probably better off in a backup role.

I mean Draymond and Klay are both 6'5" so basically on that cut-off. So sure they needed taller role players but really no team wouldn't.
Draymond and Klay are both 6’7” in shoes. That’s what matters.
Michael Jordan is 6’4.5” barefoot but I still count him as 6’6”. Last time I checked, NBA players don’t play barefoot.

That's an arbitrary line. Whey not 6'4 1/2" or 6'5 1/2"? And it's hilarious that you don't think Curry was the best player on the Warriors for their first title.

It's just a numbers thing. The average height in the NBA is just above 6'7, most good players are right around that height. 7' plus guys and 6'3 and under guys are outliers, so it stands to reason that more 6'7ish players would win titles than very small PGs.

Not having a great PG almost guarantees you're not a contender, too. It's almost as if you need great players at multiple positions to have a shot at the championship.
Does it? Let's look at the current contenders.
Lakers - Schroder is decent. Never made an All-Star team.
Clippers - Rondo is decent. Hasn't made an All-Star team in 7 years.
Jazz - Conley is decent. Made one All-Star game in his career.
Nuggets - Murray is good, not great. Never made an All-Star game. His inconsistency is probably the main reason people question if the Nuggets are real contenders.
76ers - Simmons - A power-forward playing PG. His main asset is his defense, and his lack of shooting is probably the main reason people question if the 76ers are real contenders.
Nets - Kyrie - An All-Star caliber PG whose primary skill is scoring. 3rd option on his team.
Bucks - Holiday - Solid PG. Made one All-Star in his career. 3rd option on his team.
Suns - CP3 - One of the best PG's in the history of the game... and never made an NBA Final.
In the history of the NBA I can only think of TWO point guards who won titles as the best overall player on their team; Zeke and Curry. Both guys had incredibly deep and balanced rosters, and Curry just happens to be greatest shooter in the history of the sport.

Chuck in Duncan, thats 2/3 of the last 30 years, and curry makes it 23/30.
Transcendent talents with good supporting casts win rings (maybe Duncan in 03 is the exception), it's really that simple.
If you don't have a transcendent talent, then you need a hell of a roster (04 pistons and maybe the 19 raptors - depending on where you see kawhi).
We've had transcendant talents who have either not won or hardly won simply due to a poor supporting cast (Dirk, Nash, KG etc)

That's true. I only omitted Duncan because he did in fact have a small all-star guard (and Finals MVP) next to him for most of their run. Ditto Curry, who was an MVP level point guard.
The "you can't win with a great point guard" argument seems uniquely crafted to explain why Chris Paul doesn't have a championship.
