There's basketball outside of the NBA, guys. Melli had a very solid career in Europe, he came to the NBA after playing 8 seasons in Europe.

He's a career 37.4% 3PT shooter, 50.7% 2PT and 77% FT in Europe.

So you want him to get back to the player he was in another league 2 years ago? It wasn't clear to me.

Yep.

Josh Richardson is useless and a waste there is zero reason to even consider resigning him

I don't think Doncic's passing has been GREAT for a while. He was a special passer in the mold of the greatest passers and for the past few weeks he has looked good. I really don't know what's up with that. It's not just his assists going down, his potential assists are going down too. I mean, you're not supposed to regress as a passer... so I don't know.

In the past 2 months Mavs are a top5 team in the NBA, offense and defense. Whatever Luka and Rick are doing, it was working. But it also true that Luka went balistic from the long range and carried a lot of games.

But issue is in the lineups. Luka is now often on the floor with guys like Burke, Powell, Green or even Melli who is a bad finisher. KP and WCS missing games also didn't help. Everything needs to be taken in to context.

Which is why I'm saying his potential assists are going down too. It's not dependant on bad players missing shots.

Anyway, atrocious Luka in the clutch is back. I hope he wakes up in time. 7/22 against a bad defensive team.

Luka is soooo slow. He cant get by anyone anymore, not even the centers. No explosiveness, he is either shooting stepbacks or losing energy on countless fakes and crossovers. Not to mention his non-exsistent defense for the past few weeks. If his 3pt shot goes back to the usual %, the Mavs are screwed.

The season has just been started for 4 months, can't expect a guy to be already in perfect basketball shape.

This is such an atrocious game by the Mavs... They have to go out and lose to one of the worst team in the league.

Melli can play some minutes off the bench, but a starter? The funny thing is that James Johnson is playing incredible in NO.

The Mavs have won some games when they hit 3s and their opponents missed. Tonight it flipped the other way. If both teams hit their normal 3pt %, the Mavs win. Just randomness.

Of course, it shouldn't have been that close. The Mavs far more talented team.

Porzingis had a good game. Luka had a bad one. Josh Richardson is absolutely awful and I hope JJ gets most of his minutes when he returns from injury and Hardaway. At least those two can shoot and occasionally drive. Richardson is essentially a really bad spot up three point shooter. I can count the times he’s cut to the basket or did a drive to the basket on one hand this season.

this is one of those games i wish carlisle just gave some mins to Bey.. with J rich playing like garbage. KP played pretty good, luka was bad and the energy out there was non existent.

Absolutely shameful performance and a coaching embarrassment. This team is bound and determined to be in the play in game

It would have helped if Doncic didn't take 26 shots and distributed the ball a bit more. He was off and he kept shooting instead of finding teammates. Passing doesn't seem to be as exciting to him anymore. Replace 6-8 of those Luka shots for shots by a player who was good and that's a win. Why take 26 shots when you are off and you are a great passer?

Brunson took 7 shots... and it was time for THJ to take more than 11 shots.

Luka's supposed to be good at manipulating the defense, but I didn't see any of it.

You can't win them all, but that game was an extremely disappointing loss. The last 2:35 was terrible after clawing back to a tie game. We were outscored 13-4 and Brunson only took one shot in the last 2:35 which he made.

Kp 23 through 3, no touches in the fourth just a luka brick bsll hog fest, this is why we definitely need another playmaker, they better go after lowry hard this summer

Hot takes are going to be hillarious but it was literally one of the worst managed games from Doncic ever. It happens. Can't blame anyone but him. Bad thing is, they are shooting themselves in the foot again, could have climbed those rankings, oh well...

another thing that caught my attention these past few months is the KP-luka supposed connection. to me(a casual fan) that should be an easy offensive execution most of the time.. they can either pickNroll or pickNpop opponents all day. can someone here with much extensive basketball knowledge educate me as to why they are not doing this to get easy shots/ jumpers for luka or kp..

Oh boy and then they slip against the Rockets :D.
Silas exposing the Porzingis thing and yeah it makes you sad, but what can you do. Luka would had to do more and too much of it is reliant on 3pt jack shots.

OK. It has to be said. Luka and KP clearly can't play together, my impression is that they actually hate each other's guts for some reason. Could be still something residual from that SLO-LAT game now like 3.5 years ago. Whatever. If that can be addressed, great, if they can't - trade KP in the offseason. However, I don't know who is available with an all-star potential that Luka would be happy with.
