durant's a good player, very good one....but not the best

his achillees has left him injury prone....he's like the super villian, who can't endure the 82 game grind, so needs minions to carry the load

Check the lineup net ratings you idiot. The harden and Harden/Kyrie lineups are by far the worst of any lineups featuring any of the big 3, and as someone that watches all nets games the eye test supports it. Harden ball puts a cap on how good the team can be although they do wonders for his stats. A 20/6/8 Harden shooting 50/40 is way better than a 30/10/10 harden shooting 40/30 with 5 turnovers

The record after KD was hurt is due to 1) the team gelling 2) Claxtons defense 3) Nash finally figuring out what he wants to do with the team

Cannot believe how KD clans are willing to bash Nets most reliable player on their own team to prop their hidden gem, as if more loss on Harden would further benefit KD...

Harden isn't here if KD the hidden gem wasn't here, genius.

And it's not called bashing Harden. It's called watching games and being objective about it, I know it's too much to ask of a general board troll but try it sometime.

Get back on your soapbox and keep telling us nets fans how Kyrie will destroy this team from within.

So? KD would not be there if Kyrie was not signing. KD would not be in Warriors had his sorry ass not kicked by Draymond Green.
You have a different opinion does not warrant you to call other posters idiot, your brand new fake Nets idiot.

One of the best five players, for sure.

If not for injuries, he could very well be the best in the league right now.

"Sorry ass"... Getting a bit emotional are we? Calm down its just a game. However there's no debating someone as emotionally invested in this subject as you are

I've posted the net ratings on all combinations of the nets big 3 here. Now you can be intellectually dishonest after looking at it and keep pretending Harden is the best, or you can take the word of someone who actually watched nets games that the Harden-centric playstyle was just a stopgap measure. We aren't going to win a title playing like that.

You edited out your PA on a previous civilized discussion does not change the fact you started it, but I agree no need to be emotionally invested. I was not even interested in the KD/Harden discussion  For me, KD does not have enough statistics as a Nets yet. All of them need to be tested in playoffs and they have the potential to present more drama than 2004 Lakers.

Dude has played off another MVP calibre perimeter player for pretty much his whole career. He's never been the best player in the league and frequently and currently isn't the best player on his own team.

Weird that this thread comes after a game where he had more turnovers than he did made buckets, but sure.

'I would say there is a lot of the truth to him being injury prone due to the Achilles. I remember when the Spurs got Rudy Gay during his first season after his Achilles injury that Rudy would miss random games with weird injuries that would come out of nowhere. Same thing is now happening with Durant.

It's debatable whether he's even been the best player on his own teams since 2017. He's played with almost every MVP in the league, plus a laundry list of other all-stars.

He has had 0 seasons as number 1. A few as number 2 and 3 though. :P

KD is a transcendent scorer who will make shots. Best players in the league do more than score for themselves. Kevin can't do that, which is why he needs all-time great floor managers who are also themselves transcendent scorers. I mean, how easy is it for this guy if he's got the best team in the league and all he has to do is the one thing he is best at? Best players are great because they can thrive in multiple ways.

This is the really crazy part right?

Over the past 5 years or his prime you could make an argument that he has not been the best player on his own team.

The guy has been gifted more all-nba talent than anyone in the history of the NBA and he has 2 titles to show for it.

The negative takes on Durant in this thread are some of the most factually bankrupt nonsense I've ever had the displeasure of reading.

If you people believe even half the things you type about Durant, and have a high opinion of your basketball acumen, it's time to reevaluate.

Imagine actually believing Durant wasn't the best player on his Thunder teams.

If that's our starting point, it's not even worth the time to debate the blatant hate

Is this the part where we pretend an unfortunate injury isn't the only reason Durant isn't the first three peat three time Finals MVP since Shaq? Really?

And I would LOVE to hear the arguments for Westbrook over Durant during their tenure together in OKC.

He has been the biggest team stacker in NBA history, LeBron literally carried Wade and Bosh and Kyrie and Love. It never felt effortless for LeBron during his runs with the Heat and Cavs, Durant could've sat on the Warriors and Klay and Steph still won. Kyrie and Harden could make the Finals without Durant as well.

I would put Durant as a player in the Kawhi tier. Strong iso player, that is not particularly good at facilitating/running the offense, who can play good defense. The difference is that Kawhi is mentally strong and doesnt fold under pressure whereas Durant is as soft as it gets. He has never proved he can lead a team so it is hard to put him in the discussion for the best player in the league.

letskissbro wrote:Durant isn't close to being the best player in the NBA. He's an anti-competitive p*ssy who stacks talent so he can shoot over single coverage all day and mask the obvious flaws in his game that were exposed every year he wasn't playing on literally the two most talented teams in NBA history.

He needs an all-NBA level guard next to him because he can't create team offense at a high level, be the primary ball handler, or get out of traps or doubles because of his weak handle. He needs shooters so he can do what he does best and isolate on mismatches in the high/low post. He needs a high level defensive anchor because his offensive needs typically create defensive holes that he isn't strong or smart enough to cover himself as a help defender even at 6'11. It's no coincidence that his team checked these boxes in all of his best playoff runs (2012, 2017-2019). Whenever he's found himself outside cushy situations his turnovers have skyrocketed and his efficiency has plummeted in the playoffs. Brooklyn is so broken offensively that they won't even need the defense but by no means has he played under normal circumstances for a superstar.

Look what going to Brooklyn did for LMA. Struggled when he had to play for a normal team where defenders could help off his teammates, then goes to Brooklyn and can isolate on anyone he wants and looks like a star again. Right hand bitch boy Blake Griffin sandbags to get out of his contract, goes to the Nets and starts shooting like 15% above his career average TS%. KD got the same boost only he's the ~7th best player in the league instead of the 50th.

LeBron, Giannis, AD, Curry, Kawhi, Harden, and Embiid are all better than him and Jokic and Doncic are about the same level. Given the same circumstances they'd be putting up similar if not better stat lines than he has this season.

Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation
