the power and poetry of a spectacular rejection that meets a shot at its apex and suddenly swats it into the stands

Oh man, I went and checked out Gilmore highlights on youtube. The fro, the goatee, side burns, ABA ball and left handed shot all add up to a cool AF looking skyhook. Very smooth. Kareem's seems more mechanical in comparison, more based on height. It reminds me of a giraffe. But Artis is just a flow after the power dribble, like a wave.

You know what's even more spectacular than rejecting a ball into the stands Lobo? Blocking a shot and keeping it in play, retaining possession for your team. Ho man, just the thought gets me fired up.

Voted fadeaway but the crossover deserves some love

A utilitarian, I see. Yeah, I can relate. Maybe the most beautiful technique is just the perfect execution of the right technique for any given situation.

I was doing my Leo Rautins impression, but thinking about it, the 2 handed pin against the backboard ala Kenyon Martin/Michael Jordan, or the one handed take away ala Mark Eaton are pretty BAD moves
Speaking of defense, LeBron's chase down block probably deserves a mention

Embiid’s step back (he’s so big he doesn’t have to totally fade) is a thing of beauty, though his Euro-step is kind of jaw dropping.
However, 1 and 2 have got to be Kareem’s skyhook and the Hakeem dream shake.

This right here is unstoppable. Lol.
But on a serious note MJ's fade away was a thing of beauty but my favorite was the Dream Shake. Hakeem would be an unstoppable force in today's NBA. The Dream Shake was like a finishing combo you play in Killer Instinct.

Fade aways “MJ, Kobe, Dirk”. It’s so effective, MJ used to tell defenders he was going to do it beforehand and they still couldn’t stop it. It’s also so hard to do properly.

What about low post spin? Underrated technique, but very effective as you can spin and finish on either side of the defender. Low post is becoming somewhat of a lost art.

1) Fadeaway ala MJ and Dirk
2) Step back 3 ala Harden and Luka
3) ISOlation or driving DUNK ala Shaq, Lebron, Giannis and Zion
4) LONG RANGE 3 off the dribble ala Arenas, Curry, Lillard and Trae
Joel Embiid has first 3 in his arsenal
Are there other in this era who has more than 2 ?

There is nothing like a good windmill dunk to get the crowd going. So dunks first.
I would go with the fade away next.

Those shimmy mid range's are beautiful to see but it's not prevalent in the game today anymore.
I am with you on the walk up three. It shocks opponents. All they can do is turn around and pass the ball in.
I also think Trae's floater is something to behold. Only 6'1" and getting so many points in the paint this season.

Re: The most beautiful technique move in basketball?
Thank you for asking this question. I would assume 70% of people would choose the drive to the basket (as I did). I am shocked that I see the game so differently from majority of poll respondents.
The drive has so many beautiful variants too, like the crossover, eurostep, spin, etc.
