Bautista outplays his contract by more than $70 million over the next four seasons (2013-2016).

It sucks that we're basically forced to have Biggio so high up on the lineup just to have a lefty break up all the right-handed batters.
I'd also flip Vlad and Teo.

Strippling getting hit hard tonight. Management needs to do so something about the starting pitching. We only have one reliable starting pitcher in Ryu right now.

re-signing roark and letting walker go has to be the one of the biggest screw ups in franchise history

We didn’t re-sign Roark. He signed a two year deal, initially.
Also, talk about hyperbole. Jeez.

Vladdy and Grichuk with defensive gems!
Was hoping Stripling would give us 5 innings tonight. Doesn't look like it will happen.
Need Pearson and Ray to come back soon and healthy.

That line out Vladdy caught had an xBA of .930. #ShouldBeDH

9. Similarly, IF THOU HAST SPENT the entire offseason predicting that thy team will stink, thou shalt not gloat, nor even be happy, shouldst thou turn out to be correct. Realistic analysis is fine, but be a fan first, a smug smarty-pants second.

50/50 call goes against best player in the game ... we’re clearly not watching the NBA.

So far based on last year, and early this year, I don't see why we traded for Stripling.

Because for the first four seasons of his career, he was quite good. His FIP from 2016-2019 was about the same as Ryu, albeit in a swing role, and he had been a rather valuable asset with team control remaining.
But he definitely hasn't been good this year or last, because pitchers are inscrutable sources of frustration.
**** your asterisk.

I understand he had a pretty good 3-4 years, but his 2020 was really telling, and he's not like a power arm, where you can gamble that he'll find it. These guys who throw 89-93 need every break there way to make things work for them. I mean i don't think we overly gave much, but those guys were "control" as well, though could be nothing as well.

He can give Shapiro and Atkins stock tips.
Nick Nurse recounting his first meeting with Kawhi:
“We could have gone forever. (Raptors management) kept knocking on the door and I was like, ‘A couple more minutes.’ Because we were really into it."

Why was his 2020 telling, though? He had pitched a grand total of 33 innings with the Dodgers before the trade. Why should the team have believed that those 33 innings were more meaningful than the 380-something that came before them, beyond hindsight?

Because as the season progressed in 2019, his numbers got worse, he had better first half than 2nd half, and that continued in 2020, and probably why LAD decided to cut bait (Plus his arb years were coming, wasn't cost effective anymore).
His 2019 year, his batted ball, hard contact percentage was highest in his career (well beside 2021 so far), it continued as well in 2020.
