His 2019 year, his batted ball, hard contact percentage was highest in his career (well beside 2021 so far), it continued as well in 2020.
His 2019 numbers were fine. His xwOBA was .283, which is very good, and his xERA was 3.56. Average exit velocity was up a tick, but not much. His worse second-half numbers literally come down to two appearances on July 2nd and 7th: if you look at his numbers from July 8th on, he was downright dominant.
I really don't see anything there that should have constituted a red flag.
His exit velocity, was highest in his career in 2019. And it wasn't close to league avg even.
Anyways what is so far this season, in 9 innings, 3 HR given up?
