How much Better is PG-13 Than Tobias?

Post#1 » by Hussien Fatal » Thu Apr 8, 2021 2:14 pm

George: 22, 6, 5 and 3.2topg with 47/43/89 splits

Tobias: 21, 7, 4 and 1.9topg with 52/40/90 splits

Both players are plus defenders with pg having the better reputation on that end but Tobias is greatly improved on that end.

But my question to you is how much better is PG than Tobias really?

Well you’d suspect that Doc is hoping Tobias will perform better for him than PG-20 did in the playoffs. (Pretty interesting story about how well Harris did with Doc before getting traded to Philly, then the fall off under Brett, and now back to at least near all star with Doc again.)

Tobias is playing extremely well. PG is a bigger name but in honesty I don’t know if PG is better than Tobias.

PG is considered an excellent defender and scorer. PG feel so streaky to me and his defense has lost a half step. Tobias has been healthy and really consistent.

Absolutely! Dude is actually dare I say a good defensive player. He is strong in the post and quick enough to guard all the power forwards he faces. (See his last battle against Julius Randle)

He even almost averages 1bpg and 1spg.

Lets see here.

George is 6th in RPM and is balanced between offensive and defensive impact, effectively being allstar level on either side.

Harris at 2.69 and being an impact level guy on both sides.

Yeah George grades out in metrics as about twice the impact on offense and defense.

Now a lot of people will want to discuss the playoffs last year, but again those should just be ignored completely with the oddities of playing in that bubble. Or worse the prior year where George was clearly hurt. Those two very understandably bad situations seem to have tainted a guy who's play and results are of a legit all nba player and it's a real shame.

Why are "He isn't better than Tobias" and "Tobias is better" both different options when theyre the same thing? Did you mean to put Pg is slightly or clearly better? Pm if you need advice on poll options 8-)

Lol I got rid of the last option, I guess I meant they are even by saying he isn’t better than Tobias. But I fixed it.

Tobias has exceeded expectations this season by playing at a legit All-Star level but I still have Paul George ahead.

Why’d you even bother making the thread and putting such stupid poll options?

Paul George is better. I never just look at one season as though that’s representative of everything a player is always. PG is an elite defender and a very good scorer. People make fun of Pg for his playoffs last year (I know I did), but Tobias from what I remember has just been ghastly in the postseason. So with all said, Tobias has no advantage and there’s no reason to give him the benefit of the doubt.

Better shot creator, better passer and has done it longer against more defensive attention. PG is still guarded like an all star. One is prretty much a rich man's version of the other

Tobias has his advantages as well, like being a better rebounder and a much better post player. Also he takes much better care of the ball. Not so sure pg has some huge advantage in playmaking if at all, considering they have similar ast/to ratios with Tobias having an advantage in that department. Defense at this stage isn’t in Tobias’ favor but he isn’t far behind.

I'm a 76ers fan and a fan of Tobias Harris, who's having a great year, but this is silly. You go overboard with some of these topics.

This isn't baseball. You can't just throw up some counting stats and say "this player is equal to this player." Basketball doesn't work that way.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Huh? Counting stats? Would you have liked me to use ts% or PER? If I did they are identical. Not once did I say Tobias is equal to or better than pg (nice attempt at derailing my thread). I am simply asking how much better is he than Tobias. If you ask me you made yourself look silly by completely misinterpreting what this thread is about.

Is this a basketball forum or not? Am I not allowed to ask questions about certain players or relay my opinion on certain players. You my friend got the game twisted.
