If we offer a multi year deal this summer to any fa, we shoot ourself in the foot and screw our cap for summer 2022.

Offering a 1 Yr deal to otto is better than offering a multi year deal to player x this summer.

I think everyone heard right...they're just disagreeing that OPJ is worth even a one year deal at that amount.

No surprise there, that shows how much this board understand cap situation

Did you buy some Otto Porter Top Shots and you’re trying to pump the value of them or something? Doesn’t look like you’re finding buyers here.

I'm with you, Otto is a good pro, can shoot, he'd be a better kind of Jeff Green that we had a few years ago.

Worst case: He mentors the young players and gives us a massive expiring to trade

Best case: He gets healthy and resigns for a fair deal and contributing

Getting to the point that I hope Beal retires soon so I can stop seeing people on this board posting him as a realistic target whatsoever.

Yea lol

Even if we trade for him than what? Being the Wizards 2.0? A team with no assets and a offensive star who cant elevate his team without better players around him. He's 28, so he probably wants to win too. So the time is ticking to get him help, before he wants out again. Are we even better than our 42:40 team ?

Next year I guess includes when Fultz returns. That roster looks like:

Fultz/Anthony/Hampton
Harris/Ross/Bacon
Isaac/xxx/Carter-Williams
Okeke/xxx/xxx
Carter/Bamba/xxx

Both rookies are probably in the rotation, so I see four players on their 4th year or more: Fultz, Harris, Ross, and Isaac. Depending on the major-minutes backup at SF and PF slots, it could either be one of the rookies or be a vet pickup(s) to take the number to five or six. I do not see Carter-Williams and Bacon as rotational players, but rather as injury replacements.

It would be a good time to buy low on Oladipo. I think his current injury is just a bruise like Okeke had earlier in the year. He'll get more and more confident as he plays.

He was playing pretty terribly before that injury. He's only had one great season in his career and ever since he's been either out injured or playing subpar. He will be 29 in a few weeks. Giving him a big contract now would be a huge risk.

I think he'll have a couple more big years as he gets more confidence in his knee. If you could get him for like a 3 year 60m deal, with the final year a team option, it might be worth it.

Well what if the trade was for future assests, like what if we give them our 2 1st this year (yes even our potential top 5 pick), a cap filler player and a young player. So basically give them the AG return (RJ, Harris, and the bulls pick) and our top 5 pick and run with a line up of

WCjr | Isaac |Okeke | Beal | Fultz
Ross, bamba, Cole off the bench

If healthy thats a team thats competing in the east next year and has young developing players around a superstar

And the wizards would be able to build a very nice team around Russell, Rui and 3 top 10 picks (our 2 and their own)

Mobley | Rui | Kuminga | Keon Johnson | Russell
Avdija, Bertrans, Harris, RJ etc

Yeah its alot ot give up, but it would give us an elite, go-scoring superstar to build around our guys, and hes one of the best leaders in the NBA, and would get us back in the playoffs next year (so management and ownership would be thrilled) while still preserving most the young talent on the team

Unfortunately the problem with this whole idea is that the wizards would be stupid to trade a superstar who has come out and said he doesnt want to leave and wants to build up the wizards. This would be the equivalent of the blazers trading Dame. So realistically this deal would have a 0.01% chance of happening

That team is not better than our 42:40 team in my opinion & i say that as one of Vuc's & Evan's biggest critics. You have no spacing. You have a bottom 5-10 starting PG, a nice role player rookie, a average C and a big impact player in Isaac who doesnt help Beal much on offense. This doesnt even include that all non Beal players in that lineup, were injured for most of their careers.
And i think we value Beal pretty differently. I dont see Beal as a much better player than Vuc. Beal is absolute one dimensional. He scores but he makes nobody around him better & he is a bottom of the leaque defender. He is a B star, who needs a A star to compete. We have no A star & none of them gonna sign here to play with Beal & a bunch of nobodies.

Its just the worst time to make such a trade. We have to draft a star, than we can try to add one in a trade. You dont start a new team around a 28 year old B star without ties to the franchise (aka not much patience with the team), without much help & not many assets left, in a small market. Thats at least my opinion.

Only way how we could have competed with Beal was to keep Vuc and/or Gordon/Evan and cash in assets not name Isaac ( Cole, pick, Bamba, future first round pick) .

Adding guys like Oladipo or Beal on this team is pointless. We are not going anywhere any time soon. It's foolish to expect us being in fight for playoffs next year. Our projected future 2021-22 roster has almost no spacing ,shooting nor playmaking + rusy Fultz and Isaac. On top of that it's a bunch of young players that will be more interested into making name for themselfs than compeating for anything team-related.

Orlando cannot afford Porter and Oladipo.

But as a thought excersie:

Fultz/Anthony/Hampton
Oladipo/Harris/Bacon
Isaac/Carter-Williams
Porter/Okeke
Carter/Bamba

Plus two FRPs and a high SRP to round out the roster. There is a chance for a 41-41 record with that roster, and a number of interesting assets for the 2022/23 season. But its construction would be about eventually trading Oladipo and Porter. And then one wonders why they were signed to begin with.
