OKC is annoying with their blatant tanking. At least the Raptors are discreet about it and/or are just bad lol.

We'll call 'em up when we've done it for more than three years in a row and lost the second most games in history like Hinkie did.

Didn't seem all that subtle when they lost 13 of 14. And it didn't seem subtle when Houston lost 27 of 29. Get out of here with this OKC tanking business. This has been a terrible "tank" in comparison to those guys. And many other examples over the last twenty years.

What was the salary cap in the 90’s & 2000’s? Was there huge contracts to guys who weren’t worth it that teams would love to dump? Was the rookie scale what it is now?just trying to get some context b/c in a different environment maybe it didn’t make sense to go full Hinkie. But now it does if you’re rebuilding

Hinkie was in charge for 2.5 seasons before the league interfered. And they never sat healthy players, you guys just sit horford for half a year and nobody cares. Meanwhile the pelicans got fined if they didnt play Davis after he became toxic and wanted out.

Its been a while since a Colangelo has had a job, i say its time.

Dont get me wrong, i love what the thunder are doing. But Silver hates tanking and screwed over the sixers best chance for a championship in 40 years. Havent seen that kind of hostility towards any other bad team, purposeful or not. Its a joke.

al horford agreed to it. he issued a statement about it. the thunder will do right by him, just like they did right by chris paul. what's the problem with sitting horford if the team wants to play its young players more, and horford is ok with sitting out?

ignorance revealed. that's the difference here. horford isn't toxic.

ignorance? My argument is that teams should be able to do whatever the hell they want. Silver and the league does not allow that based on flimsy logic that does not apply to everyone equally. I am playing devils advocate because my team got screwed by this same type of inconsistent logic. The sixers should have been left alone and so should the thunder and the pels. Why is being toxic grounds to be fined by the league for not playing AD? If anything he should have been suspended for conduct detrimental to the team but the league was like nah and forced him to play. Why step in at all?

Hard disagree, this due to the globalized market where the majority of money comes not from ticket and local jersey sales, but from TV deals and a global market. This is the way the world works..

They been treading water losing in 1st round 4 years in a row. Okc was competing again this year May have gotten into the playoffs again. But their Gm saw opportunity to tank at least for this season especially with Covid and no fans. Presti is a good GM. Hinkie was not a good GM. Just got lucky Embiid fell into his lap.

Or else sixers looking at Noel, Wiggins, oakafor for, Simmons as their core.

We have no choice. But rest assured OKC wont be able to tank for multiple years. We literally need a top 5 pick this year and then move onto being competitive from next season... SGA is too good and the team has fighting/winning spirit thanks to CP3's involvement last year = team wins more thank it should... Assuming we add a Top 5 pick who is pretty good off the bat, the team will be in danger of being a mid-lottery team from next season, so unless we want to sit everyone for another year we will have no choice but to just stick to being competitive.

SGA + Top 5 pick as your franchise two punch
Dort, Bazley, Pokusevski, Maledon as your nice young core
Mykhailuk, Kenny Hustle, + potentially these 3 Euro guys we got coming as your role players

Assuming Horford is still here next year, who will fit in perfectly with those guys
+ add vets from 2023 onwards

Yea, a long term tank isn’t an option. They are too talented and will always win above projections. I think landing someone like Cunningham gives you an elite backcourt for years, then you draft smart in mid 1st, 2nd like they’ve been doing and the dynasty hits in 3 years of Poku becomes a star too.

Big 3 of SGA/Cunningham/Poku... with elite role players all around them.

Fort drops 40, next game he’s out for “rest”. Keep in mind he just came off a long layoff because of injury. Lmao they’re not even trying to hide it.

Up to fifth best lotto odds now. Looks like OKC is going to snag one of the elite prospects. Nice.

Kind of pisses me off they are so trash. Curry could have probably gotten the 3 point record tonight if they weren't so ish.

Golden State up 42 after 3. Draymond with a triple double after 3. Curry with 42 after 3. OKC with a handful of healthy scratches. They're really going all in on the lottery. Beware the ghost of Hinkie.

OKC is Resting Their 21 Year Old Player.

Post#159 » by baldur » Thu Apr 15, 2021 2:52 am

He must have had some high mileage on his knees due to his long career I suppose. OKC is such a thoughtful franchise.

This is a basketball problem man. Heck, I think the Raptors have started tanking. Just provide even odds for all teams that miss the playoffs. Screw rewarding mediocrity in any way.
