Swedd do you realize he cost more to GSW than his salary costs us? That was JDR's point.

Mitch Kupchak is out of his depth in the trade market. He has little to no creativity in making trades.

This isn't a horrendous move. And don't get me wrong I'm very glad he didn't try to sign a Vucevic type and mortgage the future.

It's just that this is a nothing move and I don't appreciate our FO doing other FO's favours with nothing being given back to us as a thank you. Wannamaker is a below average backup PG and we are saving the Warriors luxury tax money and limiting our own ability and flexibility to sign a player that might come up.

It's the most Kupchak move ever. Yawn

"The two teams exchanged heavily protected future second round picks"

So yes it was for nothing but fake picks. I guess GS's might have a small chance of conveying for a 57th overall pick. Yay

It would definitely be more fun to "kick the tires" when you're at least half-way serious about buying the car.

I guess Kupchak likes his Camry. It's not a chick magnet, for sure. Let's at least stipulate that fact right off. And you won't go off-roading with it, either. Not enough under the hood. But it'll get you from A to B without a fuss and that's more Mitch's style.

Per the Hornets release it's Wanamaker, cash, Toronto's top 54 protected 2nd in 2022 for our top 55 protected 2nd in 2025.

Doesn't sound like the type of assets you take then cut the guy, but I'd guess GSW is effectively paying his salary and there's at least a small chance of getting a 2nd out of it.

So we made this trade knowing we were still going to chase bigs. Just very odd.

Oh.... oh you thought the Hornets without Lamelo are a playoff contender? Yeah, I guess that's where we're a little split.

Besides... I wasn't aware that this deal would've precluded a separate deal for another big. Wild world we live in.

I think we are still a contender without LaMelo. Perhaps not a 4/5 seed, but maybe now in the 7/8 conversation. I don't doubt that we could still bring in a big via a buyout, but I would've preferred we had been able to acquire maybe Gafford or Theis. For all I know we were in those conversations and couldn't get a deal worked out for either....not sure.

I was just flippin' the narrative on you for fun, while mired in disappointment that we didn't add a center yesterday. Though our PG went down, our backcourt has been cluttered all year, while our center position has been less-than-mediocre. I also feel like we are heading towards another Kemba situation where we are holding onto guard assets that are about to expire and watch them walk with no compensation. Adding another body to our backcourt was not the move I expected.

Happy that we didn't make an over-aggressive move like the one for Vuc or Gordon.

I am not baffled by this move so much as stultified by its blahness. Announcing the purchase of Brad Wanamaker on trade deadline day is like telling me as a fan, "here, I got you an old sock with a hole in it, enjoy..."

So, we traded for a guy that is only borderline rosterable to fill our only open roster spot, but we're not concerned about finding a roster spot for a buyout big we still want.

If we were to get LMA or Drummond I think Brad's or a Martins stay would be very short. He was just a cash grab

I guess consensus is that this is really just a boring conservative mid-season move from a guy who is boring and conservative mid season. Really doesn’t bother me since I didn’t expect anything anyway. Didn’t they basically just pay us to take the guy?

Yeah, almost certainly MJ got $ to take on Wannamaker and we got a break in case of emergency 3rd string PG. It's a pretty meh move. I wish we could have gotten a real 2nd but as we know MJ values his bank account more than 2nds.

This whole move was a shrug. The Hornets added a bench point guard for free (Warriors paid the salary) and won't cost anything to waive if the club adds a buyout big. Warriors benefitted from not having to pay the tax on top of Wanamaker's salary, at the cost of his actual salary.

At worst, Wanamaker takes minutes from a younger player. At best, Golden State owes Kupchak a solid. But overall...shrug.

He has been entirely decent free addition, not bad Kupchak.

Did it ever come out if Terry and Gordon had something to do with it?

He was very serviceable last season in Boston. His terrible numbers in Golden State this year might have something to do with them basically having a clogged toilet offense that only functions because Curry is individually unguardable.
