Yeah that's right. Can't really type much anymore. My nervous system apparently hates me. It's not just my hands. I try to use voice to text for most everything, but it doesn't work great with basketball related stuff because of all of the proper names. I end up having to correct every other word.

By the way, speaking of hornets related off-topic stuff, has anyone seen the new true-crime documentary called Moment of Truth which is about the murder of Michael Jordan's father? It's available through Amazon Prime via IMDb. I binged the entire thing yesterday. It was actually very well done and provided a great look at how messed up at the justice system is in the rural parts of eastern North Carolina, in this case Robeson County. I came away I'm watching that documentary feeling about ninety-nine percent certain they put the murder on the wrong person. Highly recommend watching for anyone who's interested.

Well, my target was 500 but I tapped out at 390

Spoiler:
Image
Missed two capitals (Frankfort, KY and Montgomery, AL), somehow forgot Philadelphia, San Antonio, and Baltimore despite going through every NBA and NFL city in my brain, and I couldn't spell AlbUquerque. Definitely thought the first U was an A or E. Couldn't remember the names for Arlington, Norfolk, and Gatlinburg even though I've been to those places. Everything else, not too upset about.

Missed a ton of mid sized Texas and California cities that I never think about.

Alright Panther fans, the draft is only 2 weeks away (woooo hoooo!!)

In a perfect world, who would you like your Panthers to walk away from the draft period with using your picks?

Pick: #8 = ?
Pick: #39 = ?
Pick: #73 = ?
Pick: #113 = ?
Pick: #151 = ?
Pick: #193 = ?
Pick: #222 = ?

Perfect World?
Pick: #8 = Penei Sewell Really a toss up between Sewell and Kyle Pitts. I believe both are notable talents but out Oline sucks harder than last year after we wasted cap space on some of the worst Oline help availble in free agency. We MUST grab Oline help here or the 2nd round- if Sewell falls I draft him without batting an eye. If both Sewell and Pitts are off the board I say we go Rashawn Slater or Micah Parsons.
Pick: #39 = Asante Samuel Jr (CB- Florida State)- Dude is a bit small and that scores us an absolute gem of a player. Dude is elite in coverage. The Other dudes I'd be really happy with here is Nick Bolton (LB MO) or Alijah Vera-Tucker (OT-OG USC).
Pick: #73 = Jamar Johnson (S- Indiana)- Safeties sometimes fall as they aren't an especially heavily valued position, this dude destroyed Justin Fields.
Pick: #113 = Ben Cleveland (G- Georgia)- Dude is MASSIVE and has always been a good pass protector- something I hope the franchise focuses on.

There are a ton of players in this years draft that are awesome prospects. I can't see us screwing up our 1st pick unless we draft a QB.

There’s so many quality OT’s in this draft class that you might be able to get one a little later on in the 2nd or 3rd rather than burning your 1st rounder on one?

I was thinking Parsons would be awesome for you guys as well - although doesn’t he have some off field issues?

If Fields fell you wouldn’t want him? - even with Darnold in the building?

Love the idea of Samuel Jr in the 2nd to you guys. Him and Chin would be a major problem for other teams.

I LOVE Bolton. Kid is just an animal and wrecks dudes. Pity he’s slightly undersized and suspect in coverage. His run stopping and blitzing is sweeeeeeeeet though.

I’m hoping the Saints go:
#1 = Caleb Farley CB (suspect back makes him fall)
#2 = Jabril Cox LB (perfect coverage LB next to Davis)
#3 = Kellen Mond QB (I think he’ll be a stud and Dak like)

Then in the middle to later rounds add:
An OT (who can also play some guard as a back up swing offensive lineman) like Green or Doyle
A back up TE like Tremble or Long
A 3rd string WR like St Brown or Stevenson
A DT like Milton Williams or Stills
A RB like Sermon or Hubbard
An edge rusher like Odeyingbo or Sample

If the Saints landed those top 3 though, I’d be stoked.

If Fields falls I think the Panthers have to take him at 8. IMO he's clearly the 2nd-best QB prospect in the draft but the scouting industrial complex has awarded him their annual title of 'player with no obvious red flags we're just gonna **** on for four months because we need hot takes' which has sent his stock tumbling.

If Fields isn't there I'd choose Pitts, LT, CB, or trade down in that order.

We filled our needs via free agency for the most part, so whoever BPA is.

I wouldn't be opposed to trading the 8th pick for more picks either. In fact, that may be my preferred option. We could get more than what we traded for Darnold.

My top 5 - assuming Lawrence and Wilson go 1 and 2 - is still Fields, Lance, Pitts, Sewell, and Slater. Basically best offensive player available. I actually really like the Darnold pickup because he's still a *very* young guy who I was high on coming out.

But, I wouldn't pass on a talent like Fields because of him. At the very least, if a QB is there I'd auction the pick to the highest bidder.

Really wanna see them address WR on day 2 as it's another deep class. Terrace Marshall, Elijah Moore, Dyami Brown, and Rashod Bateman all come to mind.

Honestly wouldn't mind if they went all-offense after going all-defense last year.

I believe that both Penie Sewell and Rashawn Slater are going to be perennial all-star players either at OT or at G (in Slater's case if he does get switched). As such I'm a big fan of both- and OLine (in general) but especially LT has been such an issue for this organization for SO long that I'd rather see us go with a "sure thing" prospect rather than go in the 2nd or 3rd and "hope for the best" as we've done with Greg Little (2017 2nd rounder). That could be a bit of impatience on my part though.

We have however had GREAT success grabbing interior Oline players (that we weirdly enough then shift to tackle) in the mid-rounds ie Trai Turner, Daryle Williams, and Taylor Moton. So IF Sewell is off the board and we are deciding between Pitts, Parsons, or Slater I go with the other 2 first. Hell I'd even consider trading down outside of the top 10 to pick 12-15 where we can grab the LB from Notre Dame (dude isn't a true LB, but regularly played 1v1 on slot corners in NCAAF)if Pitts is off the board. That would make us have to go OT in round 2 though.

I think Justin Fields could be an awesome NFL player and I could really see our system suiting him. I also just dont buy all the bull about him falling to 8. I do have reservations about his ability to make reads in a timely manner. He takes (very literally) a historically long amount of time to make his throws (the most of any 1st round NFL QB prospect in PFF history)- but Baker Mayfield and Deshaun Watson both had a tendency to take a while to make their throws and neither of them is anywhere near the athlete that Fields is. If Fields is available at 8 I take him over anyone not named Sewell.

For the Saints I really really really don't want to see yall grab Caleb Farley, if he played this past year I'm certain he'd be a top 10 pick no questions asked.

Ideal scenario would be Fields at 8, Darnold starts and has a strong season, we flip him for way more than what we gave up, and then Fields starts the following season.

But yeah I don't see him being there at 8 either. Neither Lance or Jones does much for me. NGL the idea of adding Pitts to this roster sounds pretty dope. McCaffery, Moore, Anderson, and Pitts could be one of the best set of weapons in the NFL.

Agreed re: taking a flyer on Darnold. Bridgewater obviously isn’t the answer and with Darnold still on his rookie contract what do you have to lose?

Fields sure does seem more dynamic though.

Agreed on the WR depth. The WR and CB positions appear to be very well represented in this class.

Totally get what you are saying. Why settle for a lower tier (but still good) OT in the 2-5 rounds when you can get a slam dunk OT with #8 like Penie Sewell and Rashawn Slater - especially when it’s such a position of need for you guys.

JOK, the line backer from ND, scares me a little. I appreciate the movement of positionless defensive players in the NFL but after seeing Isiah Simmons under achieve last year after the “he can play 4 positions” hype going into his draft I’d be gun shy. That said, maybe Arizona just didn’t/doesn’t know how to use Simmons correctly. Plus JOK does show a much more aggressive and attacking style of play, so maybe he’ll be much better.

I get you not wanting Farley to drop to us. Him and Lattimore could make for a dynamic CB pairing. I feel the same way about you guys finding a stud DB to pair with Chin - especially if we have Jameis tossing passes into your coverage ready to be picked off.

Lance could be Josh Allen good. He could also be a 1 year wonder at a lower level school - it’s a big risk.

I like Jones, a lot. Not sure I like him enough to take him top 5, but I love watching him diagnose the D and make awesome reads and passes. He actually reminds me of Brees in that way.
