Also, he’s already more mature than KD lol. Perk was definitely low key going at KD when praising Tatum for directly reaching out to him, rather than responding on Twitter.

There is also the story of Coach K getting him going by, shall we say, "rudely" telling Tatum he was playing like a soft St. Louis player.

I also wondered whether he saw it in contrast to Smart whining to the media about A Sherrod and others questioning his level of play on The Garden Report.

On the other hand Tatum didn't listen to KG telling him in person a couple of years ago to take some coaching from Pierce in the offseason on getting to the line. So this may be the first time JT is listening to old C's players (instead of Kobe).

Perkins said of the conversation that Tatum “just wanted to understand where I was coming from and I got an understanding of how he felt about my comments.” Ainge said he likes that Tatum took that approach to criticism.

“(Tatum) will seek out those who can help him,” Ainge said. “Sounds like he was seeking out Perk and wanted genuine feedback from what Perk was saying about him that he didn’t like.”
