Seriously though, Chris Chiozza has successful surgery to repair a broken middle finger on his right (shooting) hand. The Nets have ruled out the diminutive PG for the rest of the regular season, but honestly, I think he's out for however long our postseason lasts as well. Bones in the hand and wrist are notoriously slow to fully heal, and the timeline would be unprecedented.

That said, I think that we need to consider cutting Chris. I love his contribution, and it sucks that he's injured more because I really think he could have logged meaningful rotation minutes until James and Tyler return. But there's still a glaring need for guard depth, with several talented young guards available for hire.

I know that 2-way eligibility is kinda confusing. Just remember that any player with 4 years of previous NBA experience is not eligible. So Shabazz Napier, Quinn Cook, Yogi Ferrell, Frank Mason and many other names you could conjure are not candidates to replace Chiozza, if we cut him.

Just below this tier, we see some familiar faces:

-- Jeremiah Martin: the Bubble Net vet was also the star of our G League affiliate. He would bring ace on-ball defense, and is an improving playmaker. He cannot shoot.

-- Devin Cannady: he played for Long Island last season, and recently won G League Playoffs MVP. He was cut from his Orlando 2-way contract yesterday, and will be a hot commodity. He's a sniper and an efficient table setter, though not a hustler.

-- Tahjere McCall: Devin's backcourt teammate for the G League champions, he provides elite and versatile perimeter defense. At 6'4 with a condor's wingspan, he can play up a position or 2 and wreak havoc. He had a cup of coffee with Brooklyn 2 seasons ago, and despite being 26yo is a really raw offensive player.

So, who would YOU choose, and why?

I do like the idea of Crawford however. Only concern being are we confident he has enough left in the tank?

Remember, guys: a longtime veteran like Crawford cannot sign for us anymore this season.

We already have 15 guaranteed contracts with the Alizé signing, that's the maximum. Chiozza occupies one of the two 2-way spots that is not a part of the 15-player roster limit.

The only type of player we can sign if we cut Chris are guys with very limited NBA experience. That's why I listed the other 3 players in the poll, those are the best of the available players to sign.

So i think its his middle finger based on the what they said about the surgery. which is like 6 weeks to heal then some PT id assume. i can see him being back in the playoffs.

Another wild card is Spencer, we all know he wants to be out there in the worst way. So definitely a lot of moving parts here.

There is zero reason to cut Cheese now. We can use the open spot to sign an insurance big or another PG to help the 2nd unit until Harden and Johnson return.

I think we should go after Napier. He has had legit games, he can bring the ball up and he can win us a game or 2.

Cheese is so limited, but not sure the other options mentioned are any better.

I think with LA being out we're going to sign a vet guard. Not sure who but that's what makes the most sense.

We can't be playing cheese in the playoffs if we're still dealing with injuries. We need a vet that can help in that situation.
