Was Lamarcus Aldridge better than Chris Bosh?
Just heard he was 2 time Second team All NBA and 3 time 3rd team.
Bosh made one all NBA team (2nd).
I would think most would take Bosh. Would you?

Close call. Would give it to Aldridge due to career longevity. But one could easily make the case that if Bosh wasn't the #3 option on the Heat, he could have had better stats to sway things more in his way.

Yes. He was a much better scorer. Bosh maybe more well-rounded.

Re: Was Lamarcus Aldridge better than Chris Bosh?
No to your title.
yes to your question (might help if you lined the two up).
Here's the thing: All NBA teams are distorted by writers being hacks who factor in how good your teammates are. Aldridge consistently played for mid-tier winners, and was seen by said hacks as a nice, safe, not actually talented enough, but close enough to excuse it since he was winning, option to stick on All NBA teams once you had gotten done putting everybody you could not deny on there. If there was one single writer who was legitimately excited by him, that writer was an even bigger idiot than the rest of them.
Meanwhile Bosh's Toronto teams predictably struggled to stay above .500, and then when he landed on a team with top teammates, they were TOO top to the degree that Bosh got exposed not as a 3rd Heatle, but as more of a stagehand. Being a clear and distant #3 on your own team while averaging 15ppg isn't going to get you an All NBA.

Re: Was Lamarcus Aldridge better than Chris Bosh?
Honestly I don't really have a strong opinion on this, I think they both had really good careers with Bosh having a shorter but higher peak, but my explanation for Aldridge dominating the all-NBA awards is partially that even though they were drafted only a few years apart, they peaked at very different times and had completely different levels of competition at the forward spot. Bosh's best years were in the mid-to-late 2000's when Dirk, KG, Duncan, LeBron, Carmelo, Durant, Pierce, and Pau were all in their primes, so the forward position was extremely competitive. The remainder of Bosh's career was decent, but he had to take a reduced role on the Heat, and he was further plagued with injuries, so he basically spent his peak against some of the strongest competition at the forward spot ever. By contrast, Aldridge started his career a little later than Bosh and took a bit longer to hit his stride, but he had these really good, consistent seasons throughout the 2010's, which was after some of the players I mentioned earlier had already begun to decline and before guys like Kawhi, Giannis, Butler, and Tatum had solidified their stardom and would have been competing with Aldridge at the forward position. I don't think Aldridge would have had five all-NBA selections if his prime came a little earlier or later.

Re: Was Lamarcus Aldridge better than Chris Bosh?
I'd vote no. Bosh a much better defensive player and had more range than LMA. It's definitely close though, both guys peaked at 24/10/2.5 production.
I think Bosh just showed more in his arsenal and was better at getting to the line. It's a shame that his career was cut short because that 3rd era post big 3 was Bosh's time to shine as the go-to guy once again.

Yeah Aldridge gets points for longevity and impact but Bosh was just more talented player.
Bosh was just an incredibly fluid, automatic scorer in his best years. People forget how good he was since he was the third player in his last years in Miami and got clowned on a fair bit.

Re: Was Lamarcus Aldridge better than Chris Bosh?
Matrix is 2x All NBA.
It's the same reason why someone like Draymond (2x) will likely end his career with more or equal amount of selections to someone like Bradley Beal (0x).
The back end of All NBA teams are often rubbish in hindsight. They reward guys who are on good teams at the time. In reality only the first 7 or 8 guys on the teams are truly worthy of 'All NBA'.

Both had to retire early too because of health issues, blood clotting w/ Bosh I believe.

Gimme Bosh. Better defender. Better at attacking the hoop. Better 3pnt shot.

LMA was a better player overall but as a Spurs fan I think a Bosh and Leonard pairing would've fit much better

Yes he was. Aldridge had epic Playoff games in a brutal West. Bosh never did a single significant thing by himself in the Playoffs. Even after joining the Heatles he was a role player.

Re: Was Lamarcus Aldridge better than Chris Bosh?
I'd give it to Aldridge, although it's a very small gap. More All-NBA teams and he had that monster playoff performance against the Rockets.
Although Chris Bosh is pretty much the prototypical modern day 5. Can stretch the floor and became a very good pick-and-roll defender on the Heat.
He would still be playing today if it wasn't for his heart condition, due to his skill set.

Re: Was Lamarcus Aldridge better than Chris Bosh?
Bosh was more talented overall. Heatles don't win their 2 titles without Bosh turning into KG on the defensive end for that run.
LMA was a great player with comparable stats but I don't know if he'd have the same impact that Bosh had.

Easily yes. LMA was a better offensive player and contributed more of his team’s success in the playoffs

Re: Was Lamarcus Aldridge better than Chris Bosh?
yes he was.
he played both sides of the court.
Bosh is probably one of the most overated Pfs, ever.
I guess his rep has leeched a lot from playing with wade and lebron.

Re: Was Lamarcus Aldridge better than Chris Bosh?
Bosh's reputation as a great defender and a playoffs performer only surfaced after he joined the Heat. Obviously the game becomes a lot easier when you have LeBron and Wade next to you. The only notable thing he did for the Raptors in the playoffs was getting owned by Mikki Moore. People point to being on the weak Raptors teams as the reason he didn't get the All-NBA distinctions, but at the same time, it was easier for him to be selected as an all-star because he played in the weaker Eastern Conference.
