Building a bullpen & adding a left handed bat @ 1st base with power to platoon with Zim. Nice work.

These are all decent additions. But our infield defense is really bad and IMO we still lack a middle of the order bat.

Probably the right move. They'd be crazy to trade Robles. And if Kieboom doesn't work out, they have veterans they can plug in there. I don't think Kieboom's a great prospect, but I don't think he'll go kaboom. :dontknow:

It’s so good to have baseball back. After Last year was so messed up due to COVID-19, it’s like baseball didn’t happen. I’m excited with the new bats in the 4 & 5 hole. Hope Robles bounces back from last year and can be successful leading off.

Plus I’m loving the new closer already. He actually had to get 4 outs to get the save but didn’t let the bad calls by the umpire throw him.

One more thing, Andrew Stevenson... if he has figured out how to hit. He’s going to make it easier for the team to be able to sub him in for Schwarber late in games when we need a better glove in the outfield.

Game 2 @ Cards

Stras vs Flaherty

NATIONALS
CF Victor Robles
SS Trea Turner
RF Juan Soto
1B Josh Bell
LF Kyle Schwarber
3B Starlin Castro
2B Josh Harrison
C Alex Avila
RHP Stephen Strasburg

Lineup basically stays the same except Avila behind the plate in place of Gomes. This is his debut with the Nats. It’d be great if he shows his bat like the other new Nats did yesterday.

Strasburg had a 1 hit 6 inning game vs the Braves. He came out after 85 pitches. Hopefully he goes 7 or 8 innings.

CARDINALS
RF Tommy Edman
1B Paul Goldschmidt
3B Nolan Arenado
SS Paul DeJong
2B Matt Carpenter
CF Dylan Carlson
C Andrew Knizner
LF Justin Williams
RHP Jack Flaherty

I’m looking for Tre Turner to have a good game vs Flaherty. Look for Zimmerman to PH if we need a hit late in the game.

Early game before flying home to play a 4 game series with Arizona.

Lol Robles back to the 9 hole behind the pitcher, Turner leads off again had 2 hits and Zimmerman with a start homers.

But the best news maybe Ross starting the game going 6 shutout innings. Be nice if he's finally healthy and can hold the 5th starter job.

Corbin looking really bad to start the game. Down 3 runs already.

He had problems his previous start too. I wonder if COVID can make you lose the strike zone ?
Pretty sure he had it at the beginning of the season.

Scherzer needs to go deep.
Corbin left yesterday’s game after 2 innings and the bull pen had to work too many innings.
Bats looked good but 10 runs in the first two innings is hard to overcome.
Robles moves again into the 8 hole. (Michael Taylor having a great start in KC, hope we don’t regret letting him leave)

NATIONALS
SS Trea Turner
RF Juan Soto
1B Josh Bell
LF Kyle Schwarber
2B Josh Harrison
3B Starlin Castro
C Alex Avila
CF Victor Robles
RHP Max Scherzer

DIAMONDBACKS
CF Tim Locastro
RF Kole Calhoun
1B Asdrúbal Cabrera
LF David Peralta
2B Josh VanMeter
3B Eduardo Escobar
C Carson Kelly
SS Josh Rojas
RHP Taylor Widener
